A Minecraft player has created an incredible build that features a sci-fi-inspired Nether Portal, impressing the game’s community. Minecraft players often build stunning structures in the game, sometimes spanning hundreds of blocks, and this new Nether Portal build is definitely huge.

While Minecraft's open world was large when it first came out, Mojang has added tons more content over the years since its release. However, some of the earliest things introduced to the game, such as Nether Portals, remain iconic. Specifically, the Nether Portal provided the gateway to the creepy world known as the Nether. Many fans have looked to spice up their Nether Portals with custom designs, and one player recently put a futuristic spin on the classic in-game structure’s design.

Minecraft Creator Reveals Fan Favorite Feature Wasn't Originally Going to Be in the Game

Minecraft's original creator, Markus 'Notch' Persson, reveals that a fan-favorite feature was almost absent from the game's full release.

In a post on Reddit, user RealRoasterToaster shared a picture of their incredible build that looked like something out of a classic sci-fi movie. This impressive creation was meant to be a giant Nether Portal in outer space, and the final product was impressive. The builder chose a hexagonal shape that had a mechanical-looking frame. Inside the outer frame was a collection of six high-tech rings surrounding what appeared to be the purple portal. This inner design included another lattice of high-tech beams for support. In addition to the intricately detailed design, the player took the build further by including several starships, seemingly heading for the portal entrance. Their small size helped to emphasize the massive scope of the Reddit user’s creation.

Minecraft Player's Massive Sci-Fi Nether Portal

When posting the creation on the Minecraft subreddit, many fans commented on the design. In the comments, several wondered about the size of the Nether Portal build and how it was constructed. Fortunately, RealRoasterToaster provided some insight into the build in the comment section, revealing that the length of the portal from corner to corner was 750 blocks. According to the player, this massive scale of the build made it a challenging project. To help complete the design, they used World Edit, which allowed them to create a large Nether Portal surface.

With over 3.5K upvotes, this post evidences that fans enjoy seeing players put new spins on Minecraft’s Nether Portal. In particular, users praised the player’s addition of several spacecraft to the design. Furthermore, some were impressed with how the player could create smooth-looking circles in their build. One player even suggested including a couple of planets in the background to elevate the already amazing-looking artwork even further.

As players continue to play Minecraft, more stunning builds will inevitably be shared on social media. In fact, others players have already been making incredible designs surrounding the game's alternate dimension, with one player designing an incredible Nether hub in Minecraft. With even more content coming to the game in the months ahead, players could have even more reasons to get creative soon.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
