  • Minecraft player spends a year and a half building a simple starter house with a twist.
  • The user has meticulously designed a simple starter house with giant Minecraft blocks.
  • Over 118,000 blocks were placed in Survival mode to build the mega structure.

A dedicated Minecraft player has spent a year and a half building what they describe as a "beginner house," but despite the simple design, this gigantic structure is much more than just a beginner house. While Minecraft is now well over a decade old, the popular sandbox game has endless possibilities that have kept it as one of the most well-loved titles in existence, with players continuing to come up with unique and mind-blowing builds daily.

Since its initial alpha launch all the way back in 2009, Minecraft has evolved massively. Mojang, the studio behind the hit sandbox title, was acquired by Microsoft back in 2014 for $2.5 billion and has gone on to develop various spin-off titles while under the gigantic company, such as Minecraft Legends and Minecraft Dungeons. Despite the success of these two titles, Mojang has also continued to update Minecraft on a regular basis. New biomes, mobs, blocks, features, and more have kept the community actively engaged with the hit sandbox game, with players still showing off their impressive creations all these years later.

Minecraft Player Builds Giant Starter House

The latest epic Minecraft build comes from Reddit user Zydryx0, who says they spent a year and a half finishing their "beginner house." While the beginning of the showcase shows what appears to be an incredibly basic starter home, the user then reveals that they have built a gigantic replica big enough for a giant. According to the user, it took over 118,000 blocks to build this mega starter house and was done completely in survival mode. Each of the giant blocks uses multiple smaller blocks to ensure that they have the same texture and design as the original version, which is likely why it took the user well over a year to complete it.

Although this impressive build was done in Survival, the user did note that they used a popular Minecraft mod known as Litematica to build the giant blocks. Litematica allows players to import 3D blueprints into their game and then place the blocks manually while following the outline. The mod is a perfect way to still accomplish impressive builds while in Survival mode but without having to flick back and forth between guides or YouTube tutorials. The user says they found the schematics for 16x16 Minecraft blocks and then imported them to Litematica to assist them with this gigantic starter house.

Fellow Minecraft players were massively impressed by the build, with user MangoBrando saying that the scale "hurts your brain" because of how accurate each mega sized block is. Odd_Mulberry_2099 also chimed in and called the build "epic," while a plethora of other users said they have been inspired to build something similar.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
