Minecraft fans are recreating a realistic Steve skin in-game in a bid to make the iconic character, introduced in the 2009 Java-based version of the game, look more like the movie version staring Jack Black. Minecraft is, without a doubt, one of the biggest video games of all time. The game has seen a few spin-offs, like the dungeon-crawling RPG Minecraft Dungeons, as well as its very own toys and collectibles.
Minecraft players have been asking developer Mojang Studios for an adaptation of the highly popular game for years, and even though the movie has been in development since 2014, fans finally got their wish after numerous Minecraft movie delays. Giving fans a taste of what's to come in the upcoming live-action film, the trailer for A Minecraft Movie showcases a ton of elements from the game that should keep the franchise's followers interested.
The Best Gaming Mice for Minecraft in 2024
Minecraft is going strong, but do players have what they need to build, fight, and explore? These are the best gaming mice for Minecraft!
A Minecraft Movie teaser trailer appears to be a pretty wacky-looking adventure so far due to its invasion of Piglins from the Nether and a group of lost real-world humans. That hasn't stopped some Minecraft players on Reddit from paying tribute to the game's longest-running character by crafting a new look for Steve to keep him in tune with the movie version. User PureComedyGenius posted a screenshot of Steve from Minecraft with a movie star twist. Instead of the character's basic in-game appearance, created by Swedish video game developer Markus "Notch" Persson, the poster included Jack Black's version with a gray beard and brown shoulder-length curly hair.
Minecraft Player Recreates Steve From the Movie
In the comment section, Minecraft fans have been praising PureComedyGenius' Steve recreation, but some think that to really make him look like he has stepped out of A Minecraft Movie and take on Jack Black's true persona, he needs a proper long sleeve V-neck sweater, just like in the teaser trailer. In preparation for his role as Steve, Jack Black posted an image at the start of the year of him reading a book titled "Minecraft Basics" with the caption "An actor prepares," which showcases that, even taking on the role of the blocky and rather normal looking Steve, Black's humor isn't going anywhere.
A Minecraft Movie will not only star Jack Black but also Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Daniel Brookes, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, who find themselves stranded in the world of Minecraft. Although fans have yet to see how it will fit into Minecraft's timeline, the movie's release date has finally been confirmed as April 5, 2025.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!
Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.
Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
