Gamers who want to go head-to-head against their friends in MLB The Show 23 are a few options. Gamers can create franchise leagues with tons of buddies, have a quick exhibition game with their favorite teams, or play Diamond Dynasty to measure lineups.
However, there is no simple button that says, "play this mode with my friend." Gamers who want to show off their skills, teams, and abilities in MLB The Show 23 will have to jump through a few hoops first in order to get the game to recognize a friend and select a mode.
Adding Friends
- Click on the profile button from the main menu.
- Tab over to the right once for the 'My Profile' menu.
- Select the 'Friends' button.
- Tab over to the right once for the 'Requests' menu.
- Either accept or send a friend request.
Gamers can't play with friends until the game recognizes that they have friends. It takes a while to get the best Diamond Dynasty card at each position, not being able to show them off would be a shame. Add some friends to the profile.
The friend in question does need a copy of MLB The Show 23. If the friend is playing the game on a different console, be sure to turn on Cross Play mode from the 'My Profile' screen.
There is a method for earning tons of stubs quickly, so if friends prove to be too dominant, go ahead and start buying the best players, gear, and perks. There is not substitute for talent and quick reflexes, but great items will help bridge that gap.
Playing Against/With Friends
- Select a valid game mode.
- Choose "Invite Friend."
- Choose the desired friend.
- Have the friend accept the invitation.
Whether playing against friends or co-op, the process is the same. Choose a game mode and invite a friend. If they are online, they will see the invitation pop up. When they accept, they'll be in the game. For some modes, such as 'Online Rated' having the best team isn't always an advantage as the game does reward extra points for those with weaker teams who stay competitive.
MLB The Show 23 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
