A seemingly new weekly challenge has confused Modern Warfare 3 players: Get 20 Operator Assault Kills with Recommended Guns. The mission is particularly vague in that it doesn’t explain what an Assault Kill is. Consequently, many players interpret the objective as eliminating enemies with Assault Rifles, which is not the case.
This quick guide for MW3 is here to help. It explains what Operator Assault Kills really are and gives tips on how players can get them in different multiplayer modes.
Modern Warfare 3: How to Get Collateral Kills
Getting collateral kills in Modern Warfare 3 can be a hard shot to pull off; here’s how to land this trickshot successfully.
What Is an Assault Kill?
In line with past games, an Assault Kill occurs when a player eliminates an opponent defending an objective. For example, if a player shoots an opponent attempting to re-capture a hardpoint, that action would result in an Assault Kill.
Previously, these eliminations were titled Objective Assault Kills, which is part of why some players are confused. However, the process has remained unchanged, and Operator Assault Kills are granted for purging position-defending enemies.
How to Get Operator Assault Kills
To get an Operator Assault Kill, players will need to exterminate an opponent who’s defending an objective. This includes shooting down enemy Operators re-capturing hardpoints, or eliminating the ones in defender roles in the Control Mode.
- Choose the Hardpoint mode.
- Capture the point.
- Camp nearby.
- Kill enemy Operators entering the captured zone.
- Shoot them down when the hardpoint markers are red, not blue.
Note that the Assault Kill challenge necessitates using specific guns. So, these kills must be achieved with weapons that the game recommends (often ARs or SMGs).
Currently, a weekly objective grants players 50 XP for killing 20 Assault Operators, which contributes to unlocking the WSP Akimbo Brace stock. (The stock allows for dual-wielding the Swarm SMG.)
Best Modes for Getting Operator Assault Kills
The ideal playlist for getting Assault Kills are Hardpoint, Control, and Domination. These modes come with defendable objectives, which are crucial for the challenge.
Here’s how to get Assault Kills in each mode.
- Hardpoint: Kill Operators inside a captured zone.
- Control: Kill enemy Operators when they’re defending.
- Domination: Kill attacking enemies in the defending points.
Tips for Landing More Assault Kills
The following tipoffs help complete the “20 Operator Assault Kill” challenge faster:
- Do not shoot enemies outside the hardpoint or defense chamber.
- Do not get equipment kills unless the recommended weapons are so.
- Stun multiple enemies in the capture zone to land more kills.
- Snipe the Operators entering captured zones when the markers turn red.
- Find recommended guns by the flame icons.
- Choose tank loadouts with the most durability.
