The Light Bowgun is a fast and agile weapon designed to pepper targets with a hail of bullets in Monster Hunter Wilds. It doesn't hit quite as hard as its bigger counterpart, but it makes up for that with its increased mobility and explosive Special Ammo types.

Light Bowgun builds are very similar to Heavy Bowgun builds in MH WIlds. Both deal damage the same way, but their playstyles are polar opposites of each other. If you're interested in using an LBG in a hunt, here are a couple of comfy builds for you to try out.

Best Elemental Light Bowgun Build in MH Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds Elemental LBG build

The following is an armor setup that serves as a solid foundation for a variety of Elemental LBG builds, allowing players to swap their bowguns without needing to mess with armor pieces and skills. It's a flexible build that focuses on high critical hit chance and elemental damage, and as with all elemental builds, all you need to change here is your weapon based on what you're hunting.

Use the Elemental Powder or Elemental Magazine mods, whichever is available for your LBG. As for Special Ammo, Wyvernblast is easier to use compared to Adhesive Ammo, but the latter has better damage potential if used correctly.

The combination of armor and decorations above will net you the following armor skills:

  • Agitator 5
  • Maximum Might 3
  • Coalescence 3
  • Antivirus 3
  • Weakness Exploit 2
  • Constitution 2
  • Burst 1
  • Flinch Free 1

Agitator is usually better than Weakness Exploit for weapons with low raw damage, as the attack boost from the former is stronger and more consistent. Conversely, if your weapon has 220 pure raw attack value or more, then Weakness Exploit is stronger.

As for weapons, it'll depend on the match up. The most important thing is to use whatever your target is weakest against, then equipping the proper Elemental Jewel 3 with Critical Element 3 and Opener 3. If possible, use Level 3 jewels with Precise as their secondary skill to extend your critical range.

Take note that in MH Wilds, Maximum Might will not deactivate as long as you don't exhaust the second stamina bar provided by the two-piece Fulgur Anjanath armor set bonus.

You can also go with four pieces of the Gore Magala set with the Blango chest piece. Just make sure to use Challenger Charm 2 to make up for the lost Agitator points.

Faithbreaker Leibolkule, the LBG made from the regular Doshaguma (and Alpha variants) offers high raw attack and Normal Ammo 3 without sacrificing too much Affinity, making it the best candidate for a Normal Ammo LBG build. You can further increase its damage with Forceshot 3 and a couple of Attack jewels, or you can increase its critical hit chance by swapping Attack Boost with the Tetrad Shot skill from the Bandolier Jewel.

When using a Normal Ammo LBG build in MH Wilds, you'll want to use Rapid Fire mode as often as possible, and while using it, be sure to dodge after firing. Doing so will essentially double your fire rate.

While Normal Ammo doesn't hit as hard as the elemental ones, it works decently well against all targets.
