Beating the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds not only unlocks a lot of new monsters to fight but also gives you access to many more weapon and armor upgrades to take your build even further. These High Rank gear pieces outclass anything found in the base game, though they will involve some playtime in High Rank to get the necessary materials.
While a lot of High Rank weapons and armor will require you to farm High Rank monsters, the various farmable materials can also be collected to get High Rank variants to unlock better gear without fighting.

Where To Farm Carbalite Ore In Monster Hunter Wilds
Carbalite Ore can only be found in High Rank regions, which are automatically unlocked after finishing the base game and continuing to play. While you can go back to Low Rank areas through optional quests, everywhere you naturally go to in the game will now be High Rank. Unlike some Low Rank Ores, Carbalite Ore can be found in a few regions:
- Windward Plains
- Scarlet Forest
- Iceshard Cliffs
- Ruins Of Wyveria
You can't travel back to the Ruins of Wyveria in High Rank right away, as you'll first need to unlock it again.
Any of the regions above have the same chance of dropping Carbalite Ore from a Mining Outcrop. These outcrops refresh every fifteen real-world minutes after being farmed, though there are a few places you can go to get more than enough Carbalite Ore without needing to worry about the respawn timer.

Where To Farm Carbalite Ore In Monster Hunter Wilds
While Mining Outcrops in any region have a good chance of producing at least one Carbalite, the Windward Plains are your best bet to farm a bunch without having to change regions or wait fifteen minutes.
- Heading north along the path to Area 17 is five outcrops.
- Area 2 has three outcrops spread around.
- The southern side of Area 3 has four outcrops.
- Follow the northern mountainside of Area 7 to Area 9 to find four outcrops.
Unless you plan on making High Rank ore weapons of every weapon type, you should get enough Carbalite Ore for at least one weapons upgrade by visiting any of the locations mentioned above. When riding your Seikret, drop a waypoint on the mining outcrops icon to have your bird run you there automatically.
