Pearl Hide is a material in Monster Hunter Rise that is used in the crafting of decorations, weapons, and armor pieces. It also plays a role in upgrading a variety of weapons, and this plethora of uses means that many players will be in need of Pearl Hide at some point during their playthroughs. This guide is here to assist those players by providing details on how to farm Pearl Hide in Monster Hunter Rise.
Monster Hunter Rise: Pearl Hide Location
Players that are interested in obtaining some Pearl Hides should set their sights on High Rank Khezu. This large monster serves as a target in the following Hub Quests, which fans can initiate from the Gathering Hub in Monster Hunter Rise's Kamura Village:
- Study the Switch Axe (4-Star)
- Night of the Khezu (4-Star)
- Shadows Over the Frost (5-Star)
- Omnidirectional Threats (7-Star)
After initiating one of these quests, departing Kamura Village, and locating Khezu on the relevant map, Monster Hunter Rise players should focus their efforts on breaking its legs. Indeed, a leg break is guaranteed to award a Pearl Hide, incentivizing fans to attack that body part.
Once Khezu's legs have been broken, players should continue to attack the monster until it has been slain. This is recommended because a carve is more likely to yield a Pearl Hide than a capture. More specifically, carving Khezu's body will grant the material 37% of the time, while capturing it alive will award a Pearl Hide just 16% of the time.
Notably, fans also have a 14% chance to receive a Pearl Hide upon completion of one of the aforementioned missions. Players that break Khezu's legs and then dispatch the monster should thus walk away from these missions with several Pearl Hides more than half the time, which is quite fortunate due to the fact that most of the items that are crafted from, and upgraded with, this material require many of them.
For example, fans that want to upgrade their Khezu Flute Hunting Horns or Khezu Shock Blade Great Swords in Monster Hunter Rise will need to have four Pearl Hides in hand. Crafting the Khezu Mail S and Khezu Helm S also requires four Pearl Hides per piece, and players that are interested in those items should be prepared to hunt Khezu several times.
One final thing to mention is that fans can also farm for Pearl Hides by hunting Khezu in High Rank Expeditions. Players that want to take this approach should target Monster Hunter Rise's Frost Islands. That said, fans that pursue expeditions will not have the chance to earn Pearl Hide through mission completion, making it a less efficient option for farming the material.
Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
