Suspicious Fang is a material in Monster Hunter Rise that is used to craft and upgrade various weapons and armor pieces. This material can be obtained from Khezu, a large monster that is initially encountered in the Frost Islands, and there are several methods that players can use to maximize their chances of earning it. This guide is here to detail those methods, and it will help players quickly amass a stockpile of Suspicious Fangs in Monster Hunter Rise.
Before getting into specifics on the best approaches to farming Suspicious Fangs, it is important to establish that it can only be earned in Low Rank. Indeed, the material is replaced by Suspicious Fang+ upon reaching Monster Hunter Rise's High Rank, and while that material is useful, it is not the same as the standard Suspicious Fang. Players are thus advised to quickly confirm that they are hunting in the correct rank before they start putting effort toward taking down Khezu.
Monster Hunter Rise: Suspicious Fang Location
The best way to obtain Suspicious Fang is to break Khezu's head, as that action has a 60% chance to yield two of the material. For the uninitiated, a monster's parts can be broken by hitting them repeatedly with a weapon, and sever, blunt, and projectile damage can all get the job done against Khezu. Notably, this also the best way to earn Pale Bone in Monster Hunter Rise, providing additional incentive to target the monster's head.
After smashing Khezu's skull, players should continue their assault until it begins to limp. From there, fans should hit the monster with a Shock or Pitfall Trap and then a Tranq Bomb in order to capture it. This approach will grant a Suspicious Fang 33% of the time. By comparisons, carving a slain Khezu in Monster Hunter Rise will provide the material just 21% of the time, making the more passive approach the much better option when farming for Suspicious Fang.
One final thing to mention is that there is a 29% chance of receiving two Suspicious Fangs as rewards from quests that instruct Monster Hunter Rise players to hunt Khezu. Faceless Foe is such a quest, and fans will gain access to it once they reach Village Level 3. While it is not requisite that players use this quest to hunt Khezu, as the monster can simply be fought in expeditions, fans that are trying to efficiently farm Suspicious Fangs should definitely do so.
Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
