Monster Hunter Stories is one of the spin-offs in the Monster Hunter series by Capcom. This game allows players to take on a completely new type of character, focusing on a Monster Rider rather than a Monster Hunter. This allows players to make friends with these monsters.

While players work to befriend and ride monsters, they will have to fight some of the monsters, especially if they want to obtain their eggs. Here is everything that is known about the monsters and their attack patterns.

How Combat Works In Monster Hunter Stories

Monster Hunter Stories - Battle Strengths and Weaknesses

The combat system in MHST is a bit different than in MHST 2. While players can easily guess the monster's next move in MHST 2, that isn't the case in MHST. Instead, players just need to understand how monsters behave and use their best judgment to decide what move is the best. The picture above shows how moves work: Power beats Technical, Technical beats Speed, and Speed beats Power.

Monster Hunter Stories: How to Get a Pink Rathian

The Pink Rathian is a beloved Monstie in MHST. Here's how to get one for yourself.

By

Monsters have an Attack Tendency, which is usually the attack they will lead with. This means players will want to use an attack that has the monster's Attack Tendency as its weakness. After that, they will need to guess the best approach. Thankfully, monsters have a pattern of sorts; they usually use their Attack Tendency the most, and then, depending on that attack type, they will use another specific type more often than the final type. The list below will help players understand which Attack Tendencies use which attacks.
