Similarly to its previous installments, Monster Hunter Wilds has debuted its first collaboration. With the game being published and made by Capcom, the franchise has had many in-studio collaborations featuring the likes of characters from the Devil May Cry franchise and Resident Evil.
This collaboration in Monster Hunter Wilds features an event quest that will reward the currency needed to craft the unique armor sets themed off of Street Fighter 6. The armor sets in question are a palico set themed off the vibrant Blanka character from Street Fighter and the notorious Akuma for your hunter. The full Akuma set features a unique move set for your hunter that can surprisingly function as a viable way to play and make a build around. Here is how to get the Street Fighter-themed armor sets and the best build for the Akuma armor.
Monster Hunter Wilds: How to Get the Sealed Dragon Cloth Scarf
The Sealed Dragon Cloth Scarf is one of the coolest pieces of gear in Monster Hunter Wilds, but it's locked behind an event. Here's how to get it.
How to Get Street Fighter Armor Sets in Monster Hunter Wilds
After updating your game to the most recent version, you will be prompted to speak to an NPC in the Oilwell Basin. They will mention rumors of monsters mysteriously being found dead throughout the area with no signs of a struggle. After speaking to the NPC, the side quest named Ultimate Strength will begin.
You will first need to find the previously mentioned corpses, with one being located closely neighboring zone 4 and the other in zone 11. Once they are found, you will be asked to return to the Oilwell Basin and ask another NPC if they have seen anything suspicious in the area. They will mention rumors they have heard that will lead you to the bottom layer of the Oilwell Basin, where you can then find Akuma himself in a small area near Zone 16.
You must converse with him upon finding his location, which will end with him attacking you with his iconic raging demon move. After this interaction, you will then be granted access to the Arena Quest that will reward the currency needed to craft his armor set.
The Arena Quest for this collaboration is called True Strength, and it has the chance of dropping several tokens needed to craft the Akuma armor set for your hunter and the Blanka set for your palico. It functions similarly to other arena quests, where you will have the choice between three different loadouts to complete a timed hunt in the arena.
The difference with this particular quest is that you will be given the Akuma armor set by default, granting you access to the move set. Therefore, it gives you the choice of using the unique moves tied to the armor or the weapons available if you so choose.
Monster Hunter Wilds: All Diva Buffs (& How to Get Them)
The Grand Hub's singing maiden in Monster Hunter WIlds has more to offer than just her majestic performances.
Both the armor set for your hunter and palico will require 5 of the unique tokens rewarded at the end of this event quest, along with some Ajarakan materials that will also be rewarded randomly upon completion. Once they are crafted, the armor will automatically equip each piece to your hunter.
Since they change how your characters look drastically, they must all be worn at the same time with no deviation. However, once they are crafted, they can be used as layered armor, so you will still have the freedom to use any armor you like while keeping the Akuma and Blanka look.
Best Akuma Build in Monster Hunter Wilds
When building around this new armor set for you hunter, there is a lot of room for build crafting. This is due to the available decoration slots, featuring numerous level two slots and a couple of level three slots. The skills present in the full set grant you the following skills and their corresponding levels:
- Partbreaker Level 3
- Heroics Level 3
- Evade Window Level 2
These are strong skills that appropriately reflect Akuma's aggressive and nimble nature, with the armor leaving room to double down on that with decorations. When prioritizing the Akuma move set, the damage you deal and affinity percentage will scale based on your currently equipped weapon. Therefore, simply having something like a hammer or greatsword equipped that has a high base attack stat and affinity percentage will be the best option for this build.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Where to Find Sparkly Treasure
Here are a couple of tips on how to get more Sparkly Treasures in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Listed below are the best skills to prioritize with decorations and the reasoning as to why they have been specifically selected:
- Slugger: Akuma's entire move set can deal stun damage to a monster. Doubling down on that trait can make it easier to stun monsters consistently due to how fast moves can come out.
- Flayer: One of the other moves Akuma can use is his Drive Rush ability, similar to the Street Fighter 6 mechanic. It is instead incorporated to be a resource used to attack a wound on a monster, which can then trigger a raging demon attack. Being able to do this as often as possible is a great way to deal massive amounts of damage within a short interval, so having as many wounds to hit is extremely beneficial.
- Critical Boost: Maximizing damage is always a staple with any build. Critical Boost has proven to be one of the best ways to do that with how damage is calculated upon landing a critical hit. If you have a weapon with higher affinity, this will maximize that benefit.
- Evade Window: Using some of the slots to cap off the Evade Window skill already present on the armor set is beneficial due to the unique dash you get while wearing it. While there is no drastic benefit in using this particular dash, it helps with the flow of the move set and how you need to reposition yourself in the middle of a fight.
For talismans, the chainblade charm is the best way to get as much of the Flayer skill as possible while also combining it with the available decoration slots. The corrupted mantle is a great choice if you are looking to double down on damage while accepting the risk of more damage taken, but the evasion mantle is the more consistent choice, especially since Evade Window is a staple of the armor set.
Level 1 decoration slots can be saved for quality of life skills like Recovery Up or Defense Boost, but they are flexible to suit your personal preferences. Depicted above is an example of what the decorations should look like in order to achieve the desired results.
