At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Final Fantasy 14 and Monster Hunter Wilds announced a collaboration between the two games, where each title will receive a special boss battle from the opposite series. Final Fantasy 14 players will face off against Arkveld in early October, while Monster Hunter Wilds fans will test themselves against Omega in September.
The crossover is the second time that Final Fantasy 14 and the Monster Hunter franchise have teamed up. During Final Fantasy 14's Stormblood expansion, a crossover with Monster Hunter World brought the iconic Rathalos to Eorzea as a trial called "The Great Hunt," with both Normal and Extreme difficulty settings and a Rathalos mount as a reward. On the Monster Hunter side, the collaboration with FF14 allowed brave Hunters to face off with a Behemoth. Both the Rathalos and the Behemoth battles in each respective title are still available for players to challenge.
Monster Hunter Wilds Latest Update Causing Major Issues for Players
New reports indicate that the latest update for the popular Monster Hunter Wilds may be causing major issues for some players.
Monster Hunter Is Teaming Up With Final Fantasy 14 Once Again
In late 2025, Final Fantasy 14 and Monster Hunter will join forces once more to bring players more content. During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida was joined by Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto on the stage of the Koelnmesse exhibition center. The Monster Hunter Wilds side of the Final Fantasy 14 crossover will go live in late September, as players will face off against the robotic Omega, one of the most notorious bosses in the Final Fantasy franchise. A trailer with Omega's theme in Final Fantasy 14, "eScape," was also revealed for fans to see. Monster Hunter Wilds' signature monster, Arkveld, will likewise appear in Final Fantasy 14 as a Trial boss. Given that Rathalos had a Normal and an Extreme version, it is plausible that the same will be offered for the upcoming battle against Arkveld.
Although Monster Hunter Wilds players will be able to get a Chocobo mount skin for their Seikret, Final Fantasy 14 players will receive some cosmetic rewards of their own. A Seikret mount, along with a new Palico minion to join them on their travels, can be obtained for participating in the Arkveld encounter in some capacity. Final Fantasy 14's battle against Arkveld will go live in early October, though it remains to be seen if it will be part of Patch 7.35 or a separate update.
While both Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 have struggled to keep player interest in 2025, the collaboration between the two games could be a much-needed shot in the arm. Only time will tell how fans will respond to the Omega and Arkveld battles.
