While the core gameplay of the sequel feels close to the original, there are enough new elements to keep things exciting. One of the biggest additions to look out for is the Dimensional Portal.

It's an exclusive new challenge-run game mode that you can try out if you want a break from the standard game mode. However, it's not available right from the beginning, requiring players to meet a few conditions before they can access the feature. Here's how to unlock the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2 as quickly as possible.

How to Unlock the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2

To access the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2, you first need to unlock the Dimensional Challenge feature. This challenge mode introduces a new layer of gameplay by forcing you to play with specific decks with three active Mutators. The Dimensional Challenge feature is unlocked when you unlock two Pyre Hearts in the game.

There are a total of 13 different Pyre Hearts in Monster Train 2, each with its own unique ability and unlock requirement. Fortunately, you only need to unlock any two to gain access to the Dimensional Challenge.

Here are the three easiest ones to get started with:

Heart of the Pact

Effect: After playing a card from your Primary and Allied clan, draw +1 next turn.

To unlock this Pyre Heart, you need to win 9 battles with Trials enabled. Trials are optional modifiers you can activate before combat to earn bonus Coins. The early floors of a run are usually easy enough to handle even with a Trial active, so this one shouldn't take too long. If you fail the run, just restart and go through the early battles over and over again until you unlock this Pyre Heart.

Lifemother's Pyre

Effect: Adds the option to copy cards at the Merchant of Steel, Magic, and Trinkets.

Lifemother's Pyre unlocks after your Pyre Heart takes a total of 475 damage. One of the fastest ways to unlock it is to start a quick battle and let enemies reach and attack your Pyre Heart. Even if you're not trying too hard, this one will likely unlock passively over a couple of failed runs.

Wyngh's Spirit

Effect: Once per battle, select the Heart to restore the front friendly units on all floors to full health.

To unlock Wyngh's Spirit, you need to move your units a total of 275 times. Any time a unit changes position during battle, it counts toward this total. If you're playing with the Banished Clan, you can speed things up using the Advance spell card. Even when you're not being deliberate, this one should unlock after a few runs since the requirement is so low.

While these three are the easiest, unlocking any two of the other Pyre Hearts also gives you access to the Dimensional Portal.

Rewards for Completing the Dimensional Challenge in Monster Train 2

There are a total of 21 Dimensional Challenges that you can clear once you unlock the Dimensional Portal in Monster Train 2. In the beginning, only the first challenge will be available. To unlock the rest, you'll need to clear the previous challenges and meet any additional requirements tied to each node.

Here are the rewards for completing Dimensional Challenges:

Win 1 Dimensional Challenge: Malicka's Shifty Pyre (Pyre Heart)
Win 10 Dimensional Challenges: Rock 'N Roll Heaven (Train Cosmetic)
Win 21 Dimensional Challenges: Pyre Crystal Mastery Frame (Card Frame)

Once you unlock any two Pyre Hearts, you can start playing around with the Dimensional Portal. The challenges in this game mode are tough, but they can help you learn the core mechanics of the game and also introduce you to new units and upgrades you have yet to unlock. Make sure you keep unlocking the other Pyre Hearts to unlock all the new features in Monster Train 2.
