PlayStation players could be set to receive more Gears of War games on the platform, as hinted by Gears of War: Reloaded's Platinum Trophy. Since its inception, Gears of War had been an Xbox console exclusive until that changed with the arrival of Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5 on August 26.

Something that might have been unthinkable a few years ago has happened in the era of Xbox's multi-platform push, with Gears of War finally expanding its footprint to PlayStation after a long wait of nearly 20 years. Perhaps the landmark moment is also why Gears of War: Reloaded's user reviews on the PS Store (4.57 out of 5) offer a noticeably more positive outlook than its Microsoft Store (3 out of 5) and Steam ("Mixed" reviews) counterparts. Fortunately, for those on PlayStation, the recent launch of the original Gears of War's remaster might be just the beginning.

Gears of War: Reloaded Platinum Trophy May Hint at Future on PlayStation

As spotted by Insider Gaming, Gears of War: Reloaded's "Nothin' Left" Platinum Trophy on PS5 comes with a description that says "Your adventure is over, for now…," possibly teasing the eventual launch of more titles from the highly rated third-person shooter series on Sony's platform. It's worth remembering that, while Xbox and Steam have their respective PlayStation Trophies equivalents in the form of Achievements, there isn't a similar counterpart for PlayStation's Platinum Trophies. In other words, this specific text is only accessible to PS5 users, making it a suitable channel for devs to exclusively address players of the highly popular console if they intend to do so.

There is certainly a chance that the Platinum Trophy's description could simply be a reference to the continuation of the original Gears of War's story, which took place over five numbered entries across two decades. However, given Xbox's current strategy, which has seen multiple former console exclusives crossing over to PlayStation, it won't be a stretch to think that the aforementioned blurb may be heralding the launch of even more Gears of War games on the rival platform. With a brand-new entry in development, titled Gears of War: E-Day, bringing more of the Epic Games-created IP to PS5 seems like a reasonable way to boost popularity and build hype for the upcoming title.

If this supposed tease sneaked in by The Coalition actually contains a deeper meaning, it will be interesting to see which Gears of War game will hit PlayStation next. Per the rumors throughout 2025, the first three Gears of War entries and even Gears of War: E-Day are reportedly being considered to make the jump to Sony's console at some point. But which of these reports turns out to be reality is anybody's guess right now.
