NetherRealm has confirmed the beta dates, characters, stages, and Kameo Fighters that will be featured in the Mortal Kombat 1 beta test, available to those who have pre-ordered the highly-anticipated fighting game. Some lucky Mortal Kombat players have already had the chance to play the game thanks to a previous test, and now even more fans will get to try Mortal Kombat 1 ahead of its September launch.
Anticipation for Mortal Kombat 1 has been incredibly high since the game's initial announcement. An ambitious reboot of the Mortal Kombat timeline, Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a mix of returning fighters, brand-new characters, and some high profile guest fighters as DLC. The Mortal Kombat 1 DLC lineup includes Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker, though none of them will be featured in the beta test.
The Mortal Kombat 1 beta test takes place from August 18 to August 21 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X gamers that have pre-ordered the game. Those participating in the beta test will have six characters to choose from: Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei. There will also be four Kameo Fighters to choose from in the form of Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost. Mortal Kombat 1 pre-order beta testers will have the chance to fight it out on The Teahouse and Johnny Cage's Mansion stages.

Of course, Mortal Kombat 1's full release will have more playable characters, Kameo Fighters, and stages available. The beta is really just a taste of what fans can expect, as the full Mortal Kombat 1 base game roster also includes Baraka, Kung Lao, Mileena, Raiden, Rain, franchise mainstay Scorpion, Smoke, Reiko, and Tanya. It's possible that there will be even more Mortal Kombat 1 base game roster members as well, though they have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing.
An additional character will be available to anyone that pre-orders the game. Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders not only give fans access to the August 18-August 21 beta test, but it also gets them longtime MK villain Shang Tsung as well. Those that choose not to pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 will still have the option of purchasing Shang Tsung separately if they so desire.
NetherRealm plans on supporting Mortal Kombat 1 for quite a long time, so fans can expect plenty of updates and perhaps even more DLC beyond the initial Kombat Pack. Potential Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2 DLC characters have already leaked online, so it will be interesting to see if those leaked characters end up making it into the game or not.
Mortal Kombat 1 launches September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X.
