There are some authors who are risk-takers and open to experimenting with their heroes and giving them different traits. One of the more popular non-hero traits is arrogance. Many anime characters have been given this particular quality, but they carry themselves in such a spectacular manner that it doesn't bother fans.

7 Mugen

Anime: Samurai Champloo

Mugen was an interesting character in many ways. Despite being a swordsman, Mugen did not dress like one. He was brash and did not care about what kind of words came out of his mouth. In fact, he would often make crude remarks about an individual to trigger them and force them to fight him.

Mugen's arrogance stemmed from his swordsmanship. He fully believed that no one could touch him in a sword fight. Despite meeting Jin, who proved to be his match, Mugen didn't let go of his arrogant outlook.

Lelouch Lamperouge is a character who divides opinion. From the beginning, he harbored feelings of hatred towards Britannia, and he hoped for its destruction. Lelouch's intelligence made it easy for him to outfox his opponents and stay out of their reach. He was also arrogant, as he knew fully well that he could achieve anything that he set his mind to. Lelouch's cavalier attitude often caused him to be blind to the finer details, leading to many gaffes.

Escanor is one of the Seven Deadly Sins. He was born into royalty but was abandoned by his family because of his inhuman strength. The people around him feared him, so he had to be smuggled out of the country. Escanor accepted his strength, and he was quite proud of it.

He became arrogant and would often look down on other people, regardless of their race. Escanor knew that he was superior to everyone else and that there was no one who could match his power. His best moment came during the fight with Estarossa. The Commandment's power immobilized all the fighters, but Escanor was not affected by it in the least.
