Anime characters are expected to be extremely powerful and live a life without worries, but not all anime characters get an easy life. Parents are an important part of every person's life, and they are responsible for molding their children. As children are easily impressionable, anything that parents do leaves a lasting impression.
Parents also provide their children with the necessary care and protection until they reach a certain age where they can fend for themselves. Unfortunately, many anime characters never get to witness the affection of a parent because of losing them in an accident or in another tragedy. However, these anime characters didn't let the lack of parental guidance stop them from becoming iconic.
8 Eren Yeager (Attack On Titan)
Eren Yeager is the main protagonist of Attack on Titan. After "losing" his father, Eren lived with his mother and Mikasa. Everything was okay until the wall was broken and invaded by the Titans. The damage caused by the Titans caused Eren's house to collapse and this happened while his mother, Carla Yeager was still inside. With the house collapsing on top of her, Carla was trapped and was easy food for the Titans. This incident affected Eren mentally, and he ended up joining the Survey Corps afterward.

Just when he thought that his life couldn't get any worse, he met Rize. He went out with Rize on a date, and it was supposed to be an ordinary date, but little did he know that she was a ghoul, who would try to eat him. Kaneki was lucky as a Rize was crushed by the machinery nearby, and he ended up receiving her organs.

He had to live alone, and he was subject to constant mocking from the villagers because he was the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails. Fortunately, Naruto met some nice people, who helped him to put the sadness behind him and move on in his life.
4 Guts (Berserk)
With a sword that is bigger than most humans and a backstory that can melt the stoniest of hearts, Guts stands out from most swordsmen in anime. When he was just a baby, Guts lost his mother, and there were no details about who his father is, but it is safe to presume that he is dead as well.
Guts was adopted by Shisu even though Gambino was against it. Guts' happiness did not last for long as Shisu died after catching the plague and Gambino was not fond of Guts. He sold a young Guts to another mercenary and later, Gambino attempted to kill him. Having been left with no choice, Guts was forced to kill Gambino and flee the mercenary camp.

After getting rid of his father, Dio went to live with George Joestar as the latter had made a promise to his father. Dio's malevolence knew no bounds as after becoming a vampire, he killed George Joestar, who had taken him in and sheltered him.
