How To Recruit & Dismiss Companions In Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord

Companions can be hired by heading to the tavern of any major city. When selecting to go to the tavern district, the potential companions you can recruit will appear in the top right menu of the screen. Select any of the available options to travel to and talk to the person, before hearing their story. After talking with them you can choose to recruit them for whatever cost they offer their services.

If you wish to dismiss your companions, you'll have to find them and talk to them. If they are in your party, it's as easy as opening the party menu, scrolling to their name, and selecting the talk menu that appears after selecting them. If they are not in your party, you'll need to find them in the overworld, but they can be tracked using the Clan menu. When talking to your companion, the first option will be to dismiss them.

Companions are fully customizable like your character, and also will never die depending on the settings you are playing on. In your inventory screen, you can use the arrows by your character's name to open up the inventory of a companion and equip them with any gear you choose. Companions also have their own skill trees that will level up and learn new perks in depending on the actions they take and what you assign them to do.

As your clan levels up in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, you can have additional companions and be able to assign them to lead their own parties and caravans. Caravans will focus on making you money, while parties will go off and help in any war your kingdom is in, while also being free options to call into your army. Your companion limit is determined by your Clan level, but you can also get an additional companion by getting married, as your spouse acts as a fully usable companion without counting towards your companion limit.

When talking to a companion, you can also choose to assign them one of four roles in your clan. You can unassign and reassign companions as often as you want with no requirements or restrictions.
