In modern-day gaming, it's common for games that feature online co-op or versus modes to eventually launch a competitive system. Competitive moves involve a series of ranks for players to compete at and climb up in order to earn various rewards and improve their overall skills with the game.
MultiVersus is no different, having launched its own competitive system for players to jump into and compete in. If you're wondering how the competitive play system works in MultiVersus, how many ranks are available, and which kinds of rewards can be earned, then you can find all the relevant information in the guide below.
All Competitive Ranks & Rewards In MultiVersus
In MultiVersus, there are six different competitive ranks that players can work their way through. Players can choose to play either 1v1 or 2v2 matches in ranked mode. However, to participate in competitive play, you will first need to meet the following requirements:
- Your MultiVersus account must be a minimum of Level 5
- In competitive play, you will only be able to utilize Fighters that you own, meaning free rotation characters are locked in this mode.
In MultiVersus competitive play, your rank is determined by Rank Points (RP) and involves skill-based matchmaking. After completing a match, your RP will be altered in real-time, depending on your win or loss, and may be more dramatically affected by more unbalanced matches (such as winning against a player the system considers stronger/higher up in your Rank).
This means that as you accumulate RP, you will be able to reach the next Rank up and achieve new rewards. Every mode and Fighter has an individual rank, meaning you could be a Diamond level Shaggy player, but a Silver Finn player — enabling you to figure out which characters you are most proficient with and focus on them, or hone your skills and climb up on characters you consider yourself to be weaker at in play.
As you progress through the ranks, players will have the opportunity to earn permanent exclusive Fighter Variants, along with Banners and Badges that you can use to show off your proficiency with a chosen character. Silver and Gold-rank Badges are awarded immediately upon ranking up, while other cosmetic rewards will be unlocked at the end of a respective competitive season.
