Inside the launch trailer for Multiversus, the platform fighter showcases the chaotic battles between Warner Bros IPs and confirms two additional fighters in Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith. After taking the game down last year, it's been a busy couple of months for Player First Games as the studio not only prepared to relaunch Multiversus for its release on May 28, but to get fans excited about the game's anticipated return.
To get the fanbase excited about the platform fighter's return, the studio has made plenty of announcements showcasing what has changed and improved over these past few months, as well as revealing new content coming like the PvE mode known as Rifts. New characters have also been confirmed, including Mark Hamill's return as The Joker, introduced through a clever trailer that also showed off some of his alternative skins, while teasing more characters like The Powerpuff Girls. However, the Multiversus launch trailer has finally arrived and with it comes a couple of additional surprises for fans.
MultiVersus Players Aren't Happy With One Change From The Beta
Fans of the free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus aren't thrilled with one change made from the beta version of the game.
While much of the launch trailer showed various characters fighting, like Cake and Marvin the Martian or Bugs and Velma, the big announcements came towards the end, which fans likely anticipated after getting teased by Mutliversus game director Tony Huynh. As the cast confronted Joker sitting on the Iron Throne. The Joker seemingly calls for backup and the hulking Jason Voorhees, from the horror franchise Friday the 13th, and Agent Smith from The Matrix, appear alongside him ready to fight. The duo also make their appearance within the cast roster displayed at the end, though Player First has recently confirmed that Jason will be available at launch, while Agent Smith is planning to arrive later in the season.
While the reveals of Jason and Agent Smith are some of the biggest reveals inside the launch trailer, fans have continued to pour over the video in the hopes of gleaning any additional secrets. While the Multiversus trailer surprisingly doesn't reveal the often rumored Powerpuff Girls, it does hold plenty of references to other WB properties, which may or may not tease a future appearance. For example, floating balloons of Pinky and The Brain can be seen near the start of the trailer, the mystic lantern of Green Lantern is in the background during the Wonder woman fight, and a billboard showcases Talking Dog who made appearances in episodes of The Powerpuff Girls.
