MultiVersus has announced the Banana Guard as the newest playable character. As well as revealing the addition of the charismatic Adventure Time character to the game's cast, MultiVersus revealed that the character will be voiced by Austen Moret, who has other notable works such as Unicorn Overlord, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, and WWE 2K24.

MultiVersus became real in 2021, when it was announced a Super Smash Bros. Clone starring numerous characters from Warner Bros. Properties, such as Looney Tunes and Steven Universe. After the beta was held between 2022 and 2023, MultiVersus surprised players by announcing that it would go offline and return at a later date. Now, MultiVersus' full launch is getting closer, and to increase the hype, the devs revealed the next fighter to join the 2D platform fighting game.

MultiVersus has announced the addition of Adventure Time's Banana Guard to the cast of playable characters. In the trailer, the charismatic protector of Princess Bubblegum and Princess Bubblegum's Castle appears striking with his spear and using a dumbbell to become stronger before attacking. A new character from the MultiVersus Bruiser class, the trailer shows Banana Guard alongside Finn the Human and Jake the Dog, the other Adventure Time characters featured in the game. The trailer also shows more Banana Guards gathered together, although it doesn't detail how a potential interaction between the characters will work in the game.

New Joke Character? Banana Guard Announced in MultiVersus

In the announcement trailer, the Banana Guard asks if "he's not like a joke character," referring to one of the funniest aspects of fighting games. In a post on the game's official Twitter account, MultiVersus revealed some of the Banana Guard's attacks. "Potassium and Protein" makes the Banana Guard use the dumbbell to gain damage and knockback, and with "Banana Split," the character falls to the ground, causing damage to enemies upon landing. With "For the Candy Kingdom!" Players charge up to perform an attack with the Banana Guard's spear.

MultiVersus will be released on May 28, and the news anticipating the game's arrival continues coming. Before the Banana Guard, the devs revealed that the Joker is coming to MultiVersus, which will see the return of Mark Hamill as the voice of the Clown Prince of Crime. With the devs promising even more exciting news in the coming days, MultiVersus players wait to discover what other characters will be revealed, such as the teased addition of the Powerpuff Girls.
