MultiVersus, the platform fighting game that pits different characters from Warner Bros. Properties against each other, has proven to be incredibly popular since it first entered its open beta phase. There are some who believe that MultiVersus has over 10 million players, which would certainly mark the game as one of 2022's most popular releases. Even with the immense popularity MultiVersus is currently experiencing, some fans have criticisms for the game and its developer Player First Games. Since the alpha stage of MultiVersus, fans have been pointing out bugs or other issues with certain characters and moves.
In the open beta, a lot of players have complained about the sparse battle pass MultiVersus currently has. However, Player First Games has reassured fans that this is just a placeholder battle pass before MultiVersus can launch its first season with a new lot of cosmetics and more. Recently, MultiVersus' game director showed off a bunch of the new features coming in Season 1, with an expected launch of August 8. This launch was then delayed, with no new date given at the time.
Now, MultiVersus has unveiled that the game's first season and the new battle pass will drop on August 15, which only marks a week from the original launch date for MultiVersus' Season 1. Morty will also join the MultiVersus roster as part of Season 1, but he won't be playable until August 23, marking just over a week from the battle pass launch. There is a lot of content seemingly planned for Season 1, but Player First Games has given fans a bit of a warning when it comes to what they can expect.
"Everything we are bringing to you in Season 1 will not drop on the same day," reads a tweet from the MultiVersus official Twitter account. It hasn't been stated what fans will get with the new battle pass when it launches, but it is expected that plenty of icons, knockout effects, and cosmetics for MultiVersus will be available. With Player First stating that it doesn't plan on bringing out everything all at once, it can also be expected that more rewards could be added to tiers of the battle pass in time.
Many are also expecting the launch of MultiVersus' first season to come along with a patch that will fix some of the problems players are experiencing in the current meta. Currently, characters like Bugs Bunny and Finn from Adventure Time are getting a lot of hate on social media for their overpowered moves, with the latter having incredibly large hitboxes.
MultiVersus is now available in open beta for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
