Eventually, other characters like Ghislaine, the first character from the beast race to be introduced, and Eris, Rudeus’ second cousin and eventual love interest.

After the Teleport Event, the story takes a drastic turn, following Rudeus and his cousin Eris as they traverse the Demon Continent with the help of Ruijerd Superdia, a member of the demon race and the feared Superd warrior clan. Renowned for its extensive and alluring world-building and visual appeal, the series stands out even more due to its stellar cast of characters and their richly detailed lives and relationships. With the series' third season already airing, new faces have joined the fray on Rudeus's never-ending adventure, some of whom have not had as much screen time as the protagonist but are ultimately crucial to the story's progression. As a result, here are the series' main characters and a little more information on their adventurous lives.

Rudeus Greyrat

Race: Human

Rudeus Greyrat is the story's main protagonist, reincarnated into a baby's body in another world after his death. He was born with an affinity for magic and huge mana reserves, performing magic just by visualizing it when other mages need to recite full chants to do so.

Due to this ability, Rudeus has several exclusive spells because he can tweak them just by changing what he thinks the spell should look like or do. His staff, the Aqua Hertia, is the most powerful magic staff in the world, amplifying his techniques and making them more terrifying.

Eris Boreas Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Sword God Style Swordsmanship
• Occupation: Adventurer

The red-haired menace, Eris Boreas, is the short-tempered second cousin of Rudeus. She was born to the Boreas noble family and is pampered as a result. Taught especially by Sword King Ghislaine, she has also displayed great potential in the Sword God Style, surpassing her master later.

Like all tsundere characters, she first appears to hate Rudeus but eventually falls in love with him. After the Teleport Event, she and Rudeus were forced to undergo character growth and development while stranded on the Demon Continent, braving several near-death experiences together.

Paul Greyrat

Race: Human

• Strongest Ability: Multiple God Style Swordsmanship
• Occupation: Adventurer, Swordsman

Paul Greyrat is the husband of Zenith Greyrat and the father to Rudeus. His height is unknown, but he is one of the taller characters in Mushoku Tensei. He is a promiscuous man who could not control his urges even after marriage, resulting in him impregnating their maid.

Before the story's events, he was an adventurer with Advanced-Level skills in Water, North, and Sword God styles. Before the Teleport Event, he lived a rather peaceful life with his family as the chief of Buena village. After the event, he becomes depressed because his loved ones are missing.

Zenith Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Telepathy
• Occupation: Former Adventurer

The beautiful Zenith Greyrat is the mother of Rudeus and Norn Greyrat and the wife of Paul. Just like Paul, she was born into a noble family in the Holy Country of Millis but eventually ran away to become an adventurer. She eventually became a member of Paul’s party called Fangs of The Black Wolf; other members include Ghislaine Dedoldia and Elinalise Dragonroad.

Due to her Intermediate Level knowledge of Healing Magic, she was the party’s healer. Following the Teleport Incident, she was teleported to the Teleportation Labyrinth, where she was trapped in a Magic Crystal, which made her the Miko of Telepathy.

Lilia Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Intermediate Water God Style Swordsmanship
• Occupation: Maid / Housekeeper

Initially the maid of the Greyrat House, she became Paul’s second wife after she was impregnated by him, much to Zenith’s displeasure originally, but due to Rudeus’ convincing statements, she was able to accept her. She first met Paul at a dojo, where they were both learning swordsmanship.

After a crippling injury, she has no choice but to leave the princess guard, with Paul offering her a chance to earn a living by becoming his family’s maid. She is devoted and faithful to Paul and his family, especially Rudeus, performing her duties diligently.

Ghislaine Dedoldia

Race: Beast

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Sword King
• Occupation: Adventurer, Swordswoman

The scantily clad Ghislaine is the beast race's strongest warrior, achieving the level of Sword King. She had been a meathead from a young age, causing trouble for her father, Gustav, the former chief of the Doldia Village. Just like Paul and Zenith, she also ran away before being taken in by Gal Farion, the man who would become Sword God, mainly due to her aggressiveness and potential in the Sword God style.

She became a Sword Saint and joined Paul’s party as a melee fighter. Her loyalty to the Boreas family stems from the fact that they saved her from starvation and death by taking her in to tutor Eris and serve as their bodyguard.

Sylphiette

Race: Elf / Human / Beast Hybr

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Voiceless Incantation
• Occupation: Bodyguard

Sylphiette, also known as Fitts, is a girl who is part human, beast, and elf. As far as friends go, she became Rudeus’ first after he saved her from a group of bullies and taught her to use magic. She also picked up voiceless incantations from him, making her one of the most promising characters in the series.

The Teleport Incident took her to the land of Asura, where she saved Princess Ariel from a Terminate Boar. This led to her becoming one of Princess Ariel’s bodyguards, protecting her from assassination attempts. Eventually, they leave the Silver Palace in Asura to study at the Ranoa Magic Academy.

Roxy Migurdia

Race: Migurd

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Chant Omission
• Occupation: Teacher, Adventurer

Roxy is a member of the Migurd clan of the Demon race. She left her family and village due to her inability to use telepathy, making her an outcast. When being an adventurer could not cut it, She decided to attend the Ranoa Magic Academy, where she became a Water Saint. After graduation, she resorted to becoming a traveling magic tutor, eventually landing on Rudeus’ doorstep in the Asura Kingdom and becoming his teacher.

She is a Water King class mage, passing her strongest abilities to Rudeus. Following the Teleport Incident, she helps Paul to search for his missing family members.

Human God

Race: Human

• Gender: Male
• Strongest Ability: Future Sight
• Occupation: N/A

The Human God initially appears as a supporting character, but he eventually becomes one of the main characters in the series. Offering Rudeus advice when he enters a sleep-like state, Human God has guided him through numerous life-changing decisions. He is the only “God” not listed among the Seven Great Powers, while also hated by Orsted for some reason, casting some doubt on his true nature.

Ruijerd is a member of the feared Superd clan of the Demon race. Due to his clan's actions in the Laplace wars and the spears they wield, they are cursed to be feared by the populace. Initially believed to be cold-hearted, Ruijerd can be very caring, especially towards children, since he lost his son at a tender age.

His strong moral compass is also one of his best qualities. Rudeus and Eris owe most of their successful outings to his constant protection and training. His devotion and dedication to Rudeus and Eris have made him a fan-favorite character in this series.
