Anime fans often find it difficult to move on from a good show, and Solo Leveling is a perfect example of that. With its compelling zero-to-godhood story and a main character who dominates opponents in style in every battle, it leaves viewers craving more stories that could match that same entertainment and intensity. Unfortunately, it’s been weeks since Solo Leveling released a new episode.
Solo Leveling Season 2 ended on a high note, so fans are itching to get their hands on the third season. However, Season 3 remains unconfirmed for some reason, which means fans must scour the directory to find a good anime to watch after Solo Leveling. While most lists contain the usual mainstream anime titles, this one curates lesser-known shows that every Solo Leveling fan is sure to love.
Solo Leveling Producer Just Teased Good News About Season 3

Before Sung Jin-Woo's rise to power was adapted into anime, the pureblood vampire of Noblesse, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, stood as one of the earliest examples of a Korean webtoon hero with immortal or near-immortal qualities.
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, otherwise known as Rai, the main character of Noblesse, could rival Jin-Woo when it comes to fighting opponents in style. Not only is he elegant and reserved, but he is also extremely overpowered, capable of farming thousands, if not millions, of aura points. He is also an “ikemen,” or a visually handsome anime character with an obligation to protect those he treasures the most.
The sky, The Forest. The Earth. Everything is visible from this window. This is all I need. However, I do like tea that you make.—Rai
The large-scale battles in Noblesse, on the other hand, may remind Solo Leveling fans of Jin-Woo's explosive encounters. While Jin-Woo's opponents alternate between the magical beasts, fellow hunters, and higher beings in Solo Leveling, Rai is up against corrupted humans as well as vampire nobles.
6 Viral Hit
Offers a Good Underdog Story

- 2024 - 2024
Just like Solo Leveling and Noblesse, Viral Hit also originated in Korea. It is one of the most popular webtoons in the country, which anime producers picked up before Solo Leveling.
Similar to Solo Leveling, Viral Hit also features an underdog main character who eventually grows stronger, though not as overpowered as Sung Jin-Woo. Even if Viral Hit is not a power fantasy anime, fans could probably spot how both shows tend to emphasize the continuous growth of their main characters as they finish episode after episode.
Being an adult is so hard and painful that I wish nobody had to grow up.—Yoo Hobin
Viral Hit also boasts a relatable story, as it is set in a modern and competitive world where the main character, Yoo Hobin, must fight for his place. It even integrates social media into Hobin’s story, using it as a driving force in his growth. If Solo Leveling has the system that steers Jin-Woo's growth, Viral Hit has social media that pushes Hobin to climb to prominence.
5 Tower of God
Power Progression by Trials

- 2020 - 2024-00-00
This list would not be complete without the most obvious anime recommendation, Tower of God. It is one of the more popular webtoon-turned-anime of today that features a protagonist like Sung Jin-Woo, who started weak and later became a powerful character by trial progression, except Bam literally needs to ascend the Tower’s floors. Just think of the Demon Castle arc of Solo Leveling, where Jin-Woo had to ascend floor after floor while watching Tower of God and the parallels might easily become clear.
I want to become stronger. So I don’t have to say goodbye.—Bam
Beyond that, Tower of God also offers visually striking action scenes, even though the animation and the art style still divide fans to this day. Still, Tower of God has the same vibes as Solo Leveling when it comes to the main character’s mystery and hidden powers that unfold over time. However, the anime is not hyper-focused on Bam’s journey, as it boasts a large ensemble cast, unlike Solo Leveling with Jin-Woo at the center.
4 Lookism
Transformation as Core Theme

On top of all the anime based on webtoons listed in this article, it would be a grave mistake to forget about Lookism when suggesting a good anime after watching Solo Leveling. Just like Solo Leveling, it has a massive fanbase, rallying behind a disadvantaged main character who undergoes a drastic transformation.
Park Hyung-Suk, otherwise known as Daniel Park, was an outcast, bullied for his weight and poor living conditions, until a mysterious phenomenon drastically changed his life for the better. From here on, Daniel Park leads a double life, overcoming obstacles one after another, until he is acknowledged by his peers. In a way, his story resembles that of Jin-Woo's painful journey, having started as the weakest hunter to becoming the strongest hero accepted and respected by his fellow hunters.

- 2022 - 2022
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners might not be the first anime that comes to mind when it comes to shows worth watching after Solo Leveling. However, fans should see this masterpiece as soon as possible before Season 2 drops, as it mirrors Solo Leveling when it comes to high-impact combat sequences, tragic protagonists, power struggles, and their consequences.
Additionally, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is never lacking in flashy, brutal fights, with David Martinez using cybernetic enhancements at the cost of his life. The story of David Martinez, from a struggling street kid to becoming a legendary figure in Night City, is an inspiring yet tragic tale of survival.
Just like Jin-Woo, David suddenly rose to power, motivated by the unfortunate situation that dawned on his mother. As he grows stronger, his cyberware slowly strips him of his humanity in Night City, whereas Jin-Woo feels like he loses his humanity every time he levels up.
2 Ranking of Kings
Defying Fate and Redefining Strength

- 2021 - 2022-00-00
Ranking of Kings was released during the 2021 fall anime season, but it remains relevant to this day due to its visual style, relatable and likable main character, and emotional depth, to name a few. It even subverts fantasy tropes, challenging the standards of a fantasy anime’s strongest hero and evil villain.
While Ranking of Kings seems like a complete departure from Solo Leveling, it still features a weak protagonist who rises above the challenge and defies his fate like Sung Jin-Woo. However, Bojji has a more special case, given his disability. Even so, he defied his destiny of being powerless and unfit to rule as a king through training and determination, just as how Jin-Woo swallowed the System whole, proving he can also redefine one’s strength.
The payoff in Ranking of Kings may just be as fulfilling and satisfying as Solo Leveling. Bojji’s efforts to prove his doubters wrong are paralleled by Jin-Woo's relentless desire to stand at the top.
1 Gachiakuta
Corrupt Society and a Dangerous World

While Solo Leveling is infested with monsters emerging from Gates and Higher Beings at war with humanity caught in the center, Gachiakuta throws the always angry main character Rudo into a dark, dystopian setting where trash monsters literally exist. Yes, Rudo is up against trash monsters made up of waste products, on top of the corrupt society that separates the poor from the rich.
Gachiakuta is still airing at the moment, but it's shaping up as the breakout anime of the year. The reception for the anime has been positive so far, with many fans complimenting its art and character designs. It may not be the best anime of the summer season, but it has great potential. And similar to Solo Leveling’s Jin-Woo, Gachiakuta’s Rudo was once an underdog until the world gave him game-changing abilities.
