The HRM-9 is a light and reliable SMG introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Season One Reloaded update that's perfect for aggressive players. It combines its fast rate of fire with high mobility and decent stability to create a versatile CQB weapon with plenty of room for tweaking.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Leak Reveals Returning Vanguard Map
One of Call of Duty: Vanguard's more well-liked multiplayer maps may be making its way to Modern Warfare 3 soon, according to a recent leak.
While its strong initial kick and left-sided recoil pattern leave much to be desired, the HRM-9 is still capable of dancing around enemies while raining down a hail of fire with impressive accuracy. Here's how to get this SMG in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
How to Unlock the MW3 HRM-9
As of Season One Reloaded, the HRM-9 can be unlocked by first earning all rewards in Sector A21 in the Season One Reloaded battle pass and getting 20 Operator or Special Zombie kills with an SMG while moving. These conditions are likely to change once Modern Warfare 3 Season One ends.
Unlocking the HRM-9 itself is fairly straightforward, though getting the rest of the Sector A21 rewards may take some time. For reference, the other challenges (and their associated rewards) are as follows:
- JAK Thunder LMG Kit: Get 10 Operator or Special Zombie kills while aiming down sights with SMGs.
- JAK BFB: Get 10 Operator or Special Zombie kills while hipfiring with SMGS.
- Cranium Cracked Emblem: Get 10 SMG critical kills against Operators or Special Zombies.
- 30 Minute Battle Pass XP Booster: Get 10 SMG Tac Stance kills versus Operators or Special Zombies.
The HRM-9 is light and agile, and it feels very similar to the ISO 9mm to some degree. What makes this SMG stand out is its incredibly high Tac Stance accuracy — if you don't know what Tac Stance is, it is basically a different style of shooting that sits between hipfiring and ADS. This means you can kit the HRM-9 out for a recoil-centric ADS build and still enjoy the benefits of the weapon's Tac Stance superiority.
However, one of the biggest downsides of the HRM-9 is recoil behavior. The shots in the first few rounds of a burst from this SMG are all fairly far apart from each other, making the gun somewhat difficult to use past the 10-meter point without the help of recoil-reducing attachments. However, while these initial shots are horribly inaccurate, the following stream of bullets is fairly stable and easy to control.
The HRM-9 shines best when players constantly swap between ADS and Tac Stance to suit their current engagement range. If built properly, this gun can challenge other Modern Warfare 3 SMGs like the Striker and Rival 9.
