This article contains spoilers from the My Hero Academia series.
My Hero Academia Season 8 has delivered immense quality so far and it goes without saying that this series has gone above and beyond, quite easily being the best anime of 2025. With the season inching closer to the end and, at the same time, the Final War having ended, fans know that the end is now fast approaching. Initially, My Hero Academia Season 8 was announced to have 11 episodes. However, recently, it was confirmed that there is going to be a special OVA at the end of the series which will essentially act as the 12th episode.
Kohei Horikoshi Recommends The New My Hero Academia Replacement To Fans
MHA has a new replacement recommended by Horikoshi - and it might be Shonen Jump's next big hit.
This 12th episode is going to be absolutely massive and it could potentially fix one of the biggest issues with My Hero Academia's ending surrounding the biggest couple in the series, that of Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka.
My Hero Academia Anime Will Fix The Chaotic Ending To IzuOcha
When the My Hero Academia manga ended, fans were utterly confused at Horikoshi not giving a proper ending to the biggest couple in the whole series, Izuku and Ochaco Uraraka. Fans have known Horikoshi to build their relationship slowly for years, and the fact that he did not give them a satisfying conclusion in chapter 430 was quite confusing. However, shortly after that, Horikoshi dropped a special chapter with the final volume of My Hero Academia.
This is the story of how we all became the greatest of heroes. — Izuku Midoriya, My Hero Academia
In this chapter, Izuku and Ochaco finally got close to one another and started dating. That said, the fact that this chapter dropped months later with the final volume caused chaos in the fandom. Many fans don't consider this chapter canon, even though the author himself said that it is an official part of the story that he decided to release later.
The My Hero Academia anime can very well fix this issue once and for all by adapting chapter 431 into the main season and putting it beyond the shadow of a doubt that it is indeed canon. This would make the official biggest couple of My Hero Academia, that of Izuku and Ochaco, also known as IzuOcha, official once again.
Izuku and Ochaco End Up Together
For those wondering what exactly happens in My Hero Academia chapter 431, the contents are quite straightforward. After years of having drifted away from his friends quite a bit, fans see Izuku Midoriya meet Ochaco Uraraka again.
My Hero Academia: Kohei Horikoshi Confirms Shoto Todoroki's New Power Level
Shoto Todoroki was a major MHA character, and Horikoshi just revealed his power level as a Pro Hero.
The occasion for their meeting is Shoto Todoroki's dinner party, which takes place because of his promotion to the rank of Number 2 Hero. Although Deku hesitates to act on his feelings, just like Ochaco at first, Bakugo and Toga see to it that they follow through on them, and they end up sharing a romantic moment together at the end.

My Hero Academia Could Continue Beyond Season 8
It goes without saying that My Hero Academia Season 8 has been absolutely brilliant and that it handled the ending of the entire series quite perfectly. However, this might not be the end of the anime, after all. The exact contents of the OVA are not clear yet. It is entirely possible that Chapter 431 will be adapted in Episode 11, given how short it is.
If that truly is the case, then the OVA could very well be setting up something even bigger, such as a My Hero Academia movie. The author has previously worked alongside Studio Bones on many movie projects, and expecting another one to come in the future isn't outside the realm of possibilities. My Hero Academia also has a stage at Jump Festa this year, and there will be major announcements to come.
The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. My Hero Academia is also airing its final season, which will consist of 11 episodes in total. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.
