This list contains spoilers for My Hero Academia

It's established pretty early on in My Hero Academia that the heroes and villains are considered to be arch enemies. After all, the whole point of a person learning to be a hero in the first place is so that they can become prepared to fend off the gangs and criminals that roam the streets to cause trouble for civilians, so while it makes sense that the two factions would despise one another, there have been specific individuals on each side that have formed their own personal rivalries.

Whether this is because they are constantly trying to one up each other in battle, or due to them having some sort of connection that was established before the main story even kicks off, there are many reasons why a hero and villain could spark up a heated rivalry. With that being said, it's time to look at the most interesting and hot-blooded feuds that have been seen throughout the My Hero Academia story to understand why exactly they came to be in the first place.

Endeavor & Dabi

Family Members Who Are Forced To Duke It Out Numerous Times In The Story

For a good chunk of My Hero Academia, Dabi is a villain who remains completely shrouded in mystery. While it's made clear that his Blueflame Quirk enables him to dish out tons of lethal damage in mere seconds, the only time Dabi expressed any kind of emotion was when he came face to face with Endeavor. This results in the two having a few fiery skirmishes before it's eventually revealed that Dabi is actually Endeavor's long-lost son Toya, who ran away from his family home at a young age after feeling neglected by his abusive father.

While Endeavor would desperately try to bring Dabi back to his senses so that he can restore the bond that he once had with his son, Dabi simply dreams of killing the man who he sees as the primary cause of his pain and suffering. The two therefore establish a pretty emotional familial rivalry which lasts right up until the very end of the story.

Deku & Muscular

Passion And Willpower Versus Overwhelming Brute Strength

While most of the villains seen in My Hero Academia will have at least some kind of reason why they commit such heinous acts, the same can't exactly be said for Muscular. This guy is utterly obsessed with murdering as many heroes as he can by leveraging the overwhelming strength granted by his Quirk, but he finally met his match when going up against Deku during the Forest Training Camp. These two engage in what still remains one of the most intense and explosive battles in the entire series, with Deku desperately trying to prove to his opponent why being a hero should be considered selfless and worthwhile, which is directly opposed to Muscular's own way of thinking.

Their feud wouldn't end there though, as after Muscular breaks out of prison a little later in the story, he once again encounters Deku who, by this point, is far more powerful than he was before. No matter how many times Deku beats Muscular down, the ravenous villain is always desperate to jump into a rematch as soon as possible, resulting in a pretty interesting hero and villain rivalry which lasts throughout much of the series.

Overhaul & Mirio

Mirio's Fateful Duel With Overhaul Is One He Will Never Forget

Though Mirio always had a bad feeling about Overhaul from the moment he met him, he initially didn't have any proof that the masked mafia member was committing any crimes. However, it didn't take long before he and the other heroes came to learn the Overhaul was actually abusing a young girl named Eri in order to use her Rewind Quirk for his own selfish goals. Though Deku played a big part in apprehending Overhaul once they infiltrated his base, Mirio was someone who came to possess a bubbling hatred for the villain after he managed to steal the hero's own Quirk using a Rewind bullet.

On the other hand, Overhaul was also struggling to deal with Mirio's overwhelming strength, with both combatants being pushed to their limits during their intense encounter. As someone who had trained all his life to make any kind of use of his own Quirk, having it taken away so easily completely broke Mirio, emotionally and ensured that he would never forget the face and name of the despicable villain known as Overhaul.

Toga & Uraraka

Two Girls Who Form A Strange Bond That Changes Throughout The Story

Uraraka and Toga might just have the strangest relationship in all of My Hero Academia. When they first encounter one another in the Forest Training Camp, it's not long before Toga becomes fascinated by Uraraka and her own personal interest in Deku. However, while Toga might present herself as little more than a friendly stranger at first, she is still more than willing to murder anyone who tries to get in the way of her and the League of Villains, which means she's been involved in plenty of fights throughout the series, most of which involve Uraraka.

As the story goes on, the two young girls start to actually establish a weird yet sympathetic bond that connects the two of them on a more emotional level. Because Toga consumed Uraraka's blood and was able to utilize her Quirk, she felt a bizarre personal connection to the student herself, though in the end, the two would be forced to separate just when it seemed like their rivalry was turning into a long-lasting friendship.

Hawks & Dabi

Hawks' Main Rival When Working Undercover Was Dabi

Hawks' mission to infiltrate the League of Villains ended up going as well as it could have for a while, but though the quirky Pro Hero was able to win over the trust of Twice, one villain he struggled to connect with was Dabi. The fiery villain always seemed pretty suspicious of Hawks, even though the undercover hero was willing to prove his loyalty to their cause by bringing them the body of Jeanist.

Because of this, the two would strike up a rivalry where both were constantly looking for an opportunity to catch the other out, without actually getting involved in any direct fighting, at least for as long as they could. Once Hawks showed his true colors, Dabi wasted no time scorching him with his Blueflame Quirk, emphasizing to the hero that anyone who gets on the bad side of Dabi's friends will also have to deal with him at some point or another.

All Might & All For One

Longtime Arch-Rivals With So Much History Between Them

Most of the rivalries that have been mentioned on this list were formed within the main story of My Hero Academia, but in the case of All Might and All For One, their feud goes back a very long way. All For One has killed numerous heroes since becoming an evil mastermind, with one of his many unfortunate victims being Nana, the former mentor of All Might. Once All Might had acquired the One For All Quirk, he finally had the strength needed to stand his ground against All For One, though defeating him was clearly still going to be far from easy.

When the two had their inevitable face-off early in the main story, they managed to send shock waves throughout the entire city every time they made contact with one another, due to their immense power and strength. Even after losing his own Quirk, All Might was still more than happy to stand up against All For One during the Final War by equipping himself with Support Gear to prevent him from being killed. Needless to say, it doesn't matter how weak or feeble these guys might be as they grow older, they are always going to be considered arch-enemies who will jump up the chance to partake in a rematch.

Deku & Shigaraki

The Protagonist And Main Villain Of The Story Have Been On Quite a Ride Together

Considering Deku and Shigaraki are the protagonist and main villain of the story respectively, it's only inevitable that they would end up establishing some kind of heated rivalry, but this actually took a long while to become fully formed. Initially, Deku was actually pretty scared of Shigaraki, and since he was only partially in control of his new Quirk, he acknowledged that he would have no chance of defeating him in battle if the two ever went toe to toe. This began to change though once Deku acquired multiple Quirks from the previous One For All users. At the same time, Shigaraki was experimented on by Dr. Garaki to essentially become a superhuman, especially now that he was also in possession of One For All.

This all leads up to their epic climactic battle in the Final War. While the two clearly hate each other, there is also this underlying relationship they share as a result of everything they've been through. Deku is desperate to try and understand why Shigaraki became a villain in the first place, and even strives to pull him out of the dark pit of despair that he has found himself in. While the two have beaten each other bloody on countless occasions, fate has always brought them back together, and from Deku's point of view, it's a sign that this is a villain that he needs to save in order to be considered the greatest hero out there.
