This article contains spoilers from MHA and MHA: Vigilantes.
My Hero Academia isn’t a romance-heavy shonen anime series, but fans still went wild for Deku and Uraraka’s relationship, especially after the finale. Both of these characters absolutely deserved each other, and fans couldn’t agree more, given the challenges they overcame together. From fighting villains to saving the world, Deku and Uraraka did not let go of each other.
At present, My Hero Academia fans are still rooting for Deku and Uraraka, but a potential couple is making waves online. Pop Step and Koichi Haimawari of MHA: Vigilantes are shaping up to be the next Deku and Uraraka, who could also end up together. After all, they started as friends, which fans know is one of the best foundations when it comes to love and romance in most anime.

MHA has a new replacement recommended by Horikoshi - and it might be Shonen Jump's next big hit.
Deku and Uraraka Are Dating Each Other Now
Post-MHA Finale Chapter Confirmed Their Romance
- Deku and Uraraka end up together.
- Deku and Uraraka's intimate scenes may be adapted in the special epilogue episode.
The final season of My Hero Academia freed Izuku Midoriya from the burden of saving the world from All For One and Tomura Shigaraki with his long and hard-fought victory. Fans cheered for him even after he lost One For All, making him the face of the entire show from start to end. Perhaps the only complaint fans had about the finale was the lack of an on-screen romantic payoff for Deku and Uraraka.
As fans know, Deku and Uraraka are one of the most popular couples in MHA, which has amassed countless supporters around the world. Fans rallied behind them, pouring their support through fan art, fan fiction, fan edits, and so on. Despite the outcome of the final episode, fans are at peace, knowing that Deku and Uraraka are romantically linked and that they are dating each other at present.
Meanwhile, a special epilogue episode is arriving sometime in May 2026, and fans are expecting it to adapt the extra chapter that saw the most romantic moment between Deku and Uraraka. This extra chapter confirmed and sealed the romance between the two characters, so fans are incredibly excited to see what the special epilogue episode has to offer for the power couple.
Koichi and Pop Step Are the Next Deku and Uraraka
Pop Step Loves Koichi
- Koichi and Pop Step have a close bond.
- Pop Step has feelings for Koichi.
It’s not that difficult to see the chemistry between Koichi Haimawari and Pop Step in MHA: Vigilantes. After all, they are always together, fighting crimes in their vigilante ways, even during their days off. While they are nowhere near the level of popularity and success that Deku and Uraraka have, they are getting more love and attention from fans with the release of MHA: Vigilantes Season 2.
Just like Deku and Uraraka, Koichi and Pop Step started as friends. While it’s obvious that Pop Step holds Koichi dear to her heart, the latter has always been clueless about her feelings. One probable reason why Koichi fails to see Pop as a potential partner is their age gap, with Koichi being 4 to 5 years older than her. However, this doesn’t stop the series from building Pop and Koichi's potential romance.
To me, all this time, you have been a true hero.—Pop Step to Koichi
Even before Pop Step and Koichi became friends, they already shared an unforgettable memory. Koichi saved Pop Step from drowning and even lent her his ultra-rare All Might hoodie. Unfortunately, Koichi doesn’t seem to recognize Pop Step at all, but the fact that they met each other again and had a chance to work together after all these years means there’s potential for something deeper than just friendship and vigilante work.
Koichi and Pop Step Could End Up Together
Koichi and Pop Step have the most potential in MHA: Vigilantes to become a real couple due to their undeniable chemistry. However, other fans would argue that Koichi is meant to be with Makoto Tsukauchi, who has been helping Koichi and Pop Step in life and vigilante work in general. Koichi is attracted to Makoto, while the latter has been giving the former mixed signals about her feelings.
In other words, a love triangle is brewing in MHA: Vigilantes with Koichi at the center. Pop Step, being the jealous type, has been working harder at showing her affections, despite her tendency to act like a tsundere. Between Pop Step and Makoto, Pop Step is seemingly the closer one to Koichi, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the author suddenly confirms their romance in the future.

Display card media widget endIn My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
