This article contains spoilers from the My Hero Academia series.
Having built its success over a decade, My Hero Academia is a pillar of Shonen anime. Ever since its very beginning, My Hero Academia has been hugely popular. Sadly for the series, the MHA anime is finally set to conclude this year with its short final season, My Hero Academia Season 8, with its manga having come to an end in 2024., MHA fans who have grown attached to the series and its amazing characters are, expectedly, saddened by the impending conclusion of the story. It is in times like these that competitor anime series often shine and take over, and To Be Hero X is trying its utmost best to do just that.
Kohei Horikoshi Recommends The New My Hero Academia Replacement To Fans
MHA has a new replacement recommended by Horikoshi - and it might be Shonen Jump's next big hit.
My Hero Academia has stood out among the rest as the most popular superhero anime ever, but now, with its conclusion looming, To Be Hero X is here to take over as the next big superhero hit. It could dethrone MHA as it continues its deeply enthralling story for now.
My Hero Academia is Ending, and a New Superhero Anime is Rising
- To Be Hero X is the New Hottest Superhero Anime
- To Be Hero X Was One of the Biggest 2025 Releases
My Hero Academia was, for many years, one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s most popular manga series. The manga reached its conclusion last year, in late 2024. As fans are well aware, the anime will also conclude soon, given that My Hero Academia Season 8 only consists of 12 episodes to end the series. My Hero Academia is going to officially wrap up by the end of the year, and regardless of what the future holds for the series, it will definitely be remembered as a phenomenal anime, especially the greatest superhero anime of all time.
My Hero Academia: Horikoshi Reveals Izuku Midoriya's Biggest Failure
Deku was an incredible hero, but he failed at accomplishing his goal in MHA.
All that said, My Hero Academia has some tough competition this year in the superhero department. To Be Hero X is a Chinese donghua that has been blowing up since its release in 2025. This superhero series has intrigued countless fans with its story. The premise is simple, every two years, the heroes gather, and a tournament takes place. This tournament decides where the heroes rank, and it greatly affects their powers and abilities. Not only did this simple concept story enamor fans, but its animation and direction add a touch of brilliance to it that makes the fans crave more.
To Be Hero X already has a second season confirmed, and with no more competition from the likes of MHA, it could definitely become the new king of Superhero anime.
"I've never really thought hard about it. As far as who's similar to me, I guess strictly speaking, it'd be Deku. He cries easily and cowers... It's not really the most pleasing aspects" - Kohei Horikoshi
New MHA Projects Could Keep the Series Alive
- MHA Vigilantes Will Come in 2026
- A Live-Action Movie is in the Works At Netflix
My Hero Academia’s original anime is most certainly ending this year, but it doesn’t mean the franchise will die in 2025 with the conclusion of MHA season 8. The main story of Deku and Class A-1 is over, but there's more content and projects to animate. My Hero Academia’s spin-off series, Vigilantes, is still coming. Vigilantes Season 2 is scheduled for a 2026 release date, and fans are definitely excited to see what’s in store for them.
Question: Are you considering doing another manga? Horikoshi: Yes, I'm already in the concept stage. Luckily, there is something I still want to do that I couldn't do with MHA, so I'm hoping to channel that feeling into this. When I announce my next series, I hope it will be in Weekly Shonen Jump. So, I'm working on the concept now, thinking about how I want to challenge myself to Jump one more time.
That aside, Netflix also has big plans in store for the series. The MHA live-action, which was announced seven years ago, seems to finally be taking shape now, with the script having been written. If this movie becomes a success, fans could see more live-action content for this beloved series and a big project similar to One Piece’s live-action.
The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. When it comes to the anime, this series is still awaiting its final season, which will be released later this year. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
