The story of My Hero Academia is split up into two parts: the hero missions and the exams. While it's always a blast seeing Deku and the others going all-out to take down a dangerous villain, the exams can also provide fans with a glimpse at what all the students and Pro-Heroes are truly capable of. Aizawa isn't the kind of teacher who enjoys learning about his students through written exams and assignments. Instead, on the very first day of the semester, he will always ask his class to partake in a Quirk Apprehension Test, which is essentially a collection of small sports activities which gives Aizawa a good idea of everyone's Quirks, alongside their personal strengths and weaknesses.
The test includes a 50-meter dash, grip strength, long jump, and a ball throw. All the students are encouraged to get creative with how they use their Quirks to come out on top in each activity. Though this is a rather easy-going test in comparison to the others, Aizawa does still make it clear that those who don't hold their weight will be seen as lacking potential, and will therefore be removed from the academy, ensuring it's not a total walk in the park.

As the name suggests, the U.A. Entrance Exam determines whether or not somebody can officially be enrolled into U.A. To start their journey of becoming a hero. The exam itself is split into two parts. First comes the writing test, which already requires a lot of prior research and revision, but it's the practical exam that really separates the weak from the strong.
The goal is simple enough: take out as many Villain-Bots as possible to score points. Because of how surprisingly fast and durable these machines are, a student needs to have at least a decent understanding of their Quirk to fend them off. Thankfully, points can also be earned by rescuing other students from danger, as Midoriya comes to find out when he miraculously manages to pass despite not destroying a single robot.
3 Provisional Hero License Course

Considering how tough the Provisional License Exam is, students who end up failing will thankfully get a second chance to earn their license, but it takes a lot of work and dedication to get there. Students must first train for three whole months while also attending class and keeping up with their studies as part of this course.

2 Provisional License Exam

The purpose of the Provisional License Exam is not necessarily to test how strong the students are, but how they react in high-stakes situations. The first stage of the exam involves everyone placing small blue symbols on their body, which will light up if they make contact with the bouncy balls scattered around the arena. A hero needs to be fast on their feet to avoid being struck by their opponents, but having a versatile or defensive Quirk, such as Fumikage's Dark Shadow or Mina's Acid, can also be useful for keeping the balls at bay.
After enough students have been knocked out of the first phase, the arena will then automatically self-destruct, leaving a barren wasteland full of dirt and debris. This is where the Help Us Company comes into play. These guys are old and frail civilians whom the heroes must rescue, all while fending off a Pro-Hero or two at the same time. Needless to say, only the best of the best stand a chance of making it through the exam and earning their Provisional License.
1 First Term Final Exam
First Semester Ends With Each Student Taking On A Powerful Pro-Hero

By the time most students reach the end of their first semester, they will have gotten familiar enough with their Quirk ability to know how and when to use it in combat. To test this, the final exam puts the students in teams of two and tasks them with overcoming a Pro-Hero, who are all known for being freakishly strong. Considering how drastically different all the Pro-Heroes are in their fighting styles and techniques, it makes preparing for the final exam extremely difficult.
In fact, many of the students would struggle a lot to make it through this section of their academic career. Denki, Mina, Eijiro and Rikido all fail the practical test, showing just how tricky it can be to find a way to counteract these powerful heroes. This isn't even mentioning the writing exam which goes on for three whole days, adding to the difficulty of the exam as a whole.
