What type of person is Mineta?

Although he has a Lecherous Personality, He Has Dreams of Becoming a Hero

Mineta Minoru is a UA High School Class 1-A heroic department student. Mineta is one of the shortest students in the class and has a unique personality. While many of the students in Class 1-A or the heroics departments have a heart of gold and a firm belief in doing good, Mineta is a late bloomer in this aspect.

Mineta’s Quirk is called Pop Off. To access his Quirk, Mineta peels off the bead-like purple balls from his head and throws them at his enemies, binding them into place. At the start of the series, Mineta was limited to how many beads he could remove from his head. The result of removing too many would cause Mineta to bleed from his head.

My Hero Academia: Mutant Quirks, Explained

Characters with Mutant Quirks often have a unique appearance, which could lead to discrimination. But what are Mutant Quirks?

Additionally, Mineta is immune to the stickiness of these beads, as he can bounce off them during battle, showcasing his ability. Mineta’s Pop Off Quirk is idle for binding villains who incur damage to property, making him a valuable asset in battle, although Mineta is slightly cowardly and has a perverse personality.

Mineta’s Quirk allows him to apprehend villains quickly. However, his cowardly personality and need for a pep talk prevent him from taking the appropriate action quickly. In addition, Mineta could be seen as a typical teenage boy who takes liking girls to the next level. This is spotted countless times as Mineta uses any situation to gain an advantage to get close to the girls of Class 1-A, much to their displeasure.

Mina's cheerful attitude takes a turn during the Final War. Although she faces her fear, what is the source of her strength?

Mineta has shown time and again that he has the ability to be a reliable hero, pushing himself to his limits to help protect his friends, even when he's scared. However, Mineta’s perverted personality and somewhat laziness often dampen his achievements as he focuses more on girls and obtaining a girlfriend than on Hero work.

How did Mineta Pop off during the Final War?

Now filled with conviction, Mineta takes a stand

Mineta required a lot of character development as, throughout the series, he was still somewhat immature, spending most of the time focusing on girls and making inappropriate comments. However, after Midnight's death during the Paranormal Liberation War arc and after witnessing Aoyama Yuga become the UA Traitor, Mineta’s personality changes.

During the Final War, Mineta, Ashido Mina, and Kirishima Eijiro are tasked with defending Gigantomachia’s containment facility with Pro Hero Mt Lady. Mineta formerly interned with Mt. Lady during the Hero Killer arc, which caused him to be frightened of her. This changes when Mineta chooses to fight alongside her against All For One.

My Hero Academia: The Significance Of Reaching Out Your Hand

Reaching out your hand is more than saving someone; it also makes them feel at ease. The significance of this is rooted in heroism.

After witnessing his master continue to push her limits, leaving her battered and bruised from fighting Gigantomachia and All For One, Mineta is terribly concerned for her and Tokoyami. However, after All For One mentions he would like to steal Dark Shadow from Tokoyami, Mineta takes a surprising stand against him.

With tears in his eyes and outstanding conviction, Mineta begs All For One not to take Dark Shadow from Tokoyami, stating that he’ll only become an edgy teenager by doing so. Mineta’s concern for his friend also leads him to offer his own Quirk: Pop Off as a replacement for All For One, not taking Dark Shadow from Tokoyami.

Although with tears in his eyes, Mineta’s conviction and determination to protect his friend gives him an unwavering resolve, this stopped All For One from stealing Dark Shadow; however, this was not the only time that Mineta popped off during the Final War. During Phase 3, the Divide and Conquer Operation, Mineta and the rest of Class 1-A and other Pro Heroes stand against All For One, who has taken control of Shigaraki Tomura’s body.

If I didn’t step up today…

In Chapter 420, although battered and bruised with a bandage around his eye, Mineta stands filled with determination to take All For One down. It is in Chapter 421 that Mineta has a moment of self-reflection. Mineta has always taken a step back when it came to Hero work, and the previous events have led him to finally take his first step toward becoming a proper Hero.

In essence, the Final War was similar to a wake-up call for Mineta, as many of his friends and the world was at stake. It was through this that Mineta matured as a Hero. However, although Mineta has shown maturity and conviction as a Hero, he still has lewd and lecherous tendencies, as seen in Chapter 425. Although Mineta has established himself as a Hero, he still has much to learn about becoming a better person.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
