Izuku's story began as an uphill battle due to being a quirkless individual, but his selflessness made him worthy of being All Might's successor and the perfect vessel for One For All. Now, as the final battle between Izuku and Shigaraki comes to a close, many fans wonder if there will be a continuation or a second spin-off of the main story. While there are many possibilities, one that fits best is a dive into the history and lore of My Hero Academia.

The History Of My Hero Academia Is Full Of Untapped Potential

Throughout the main series, My Hero Academia provides glimpses into the violent and dark past of Japan before All Might became the Symbol of Peace, along with teasing at All Might's cataclysmic battle with All For One, which gravely wounded him. In fact, there is a great deal of history surrounding the first Quirk War, the original Meta Liberation Army, and even One For All's rise as the Demon King. It's a fair argument that the history leading up to Izuku's adventure is just as interesting, maybe even more so.

There are so many directions that a series focusing on what came before could go that the material could span another eight seasons of story on its own. The lore of My Hero Academia is rich, carrying significant weight and supporting the modern-day story as the students of UA Academy strive to save the world. A look back at the adults of today doing the same thing, highlighting their struggles and putting a spotlight on the tough decisions they had to make in the heat of war and hopelessness, could only add to Horikoshi's story as a whole.

A Story Following All Might's Rise To The Symbol Of Peace Would Be Perfect

All Might glows while his back is turned to the viewer.

All Might is the foundation on which the entire My Hero Academia story sits. The Symbol of Peace, who brought an end to disparity and lawlessness with nothing but the image of his back, is a mythical individual. The title of the strongest is a common trope in anime, but often leads to their downfall. All Might, however, never once faltered, even when facing insurmountable odds. A second journey following All Might, who was also a quirkless individual, would be a perfect starting point for a new series. All Might's training under Nana Shimura, his time with Gran Torino, and his partnership with Nighteye are all relationships that deserve to be explored, as each character is beloved by the fanbase and is essential to the future that is season one of My Hero Academia.

Additionally, All Might's warpath to the world's number one hero was not all sunshine and rainbows. All Might embarked on an incredibly lonely path, forsaking his own happiness for the sake of the people of the world. Placing himself on a pedestal and holding himself to a higher accountability to ensure that hope returned to the land would be an incredible and emotionally charged narrative. Along the way, the series could shine a spotlight on the seeds of inspiration that All Might planted on his journey, which ultimately gave rise to the Stars and Stripes, and even the Endeavors of the modern age.

A Series Following The Past Users Of One For All Could Also Be Fantastic

Another setting that a prequel series could plant its feet in is in the past users of One for All, possibly beginning with a focus on the first wielder, Yoichi Shiguraki, the twin brother of the Demon King All For One. There were seven wielders before Isuku Midoriya received the power of One for All, and while each user has been introduced, their history and motivations remain unexplored. Each user of One for All made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good, but they are not just cardboard cutout heroes similar to All Might.

Instead, each of Izuku's predecessors is a diverse and unique character who would make an unforgettable central protagonist in their own story. The vast universe of My Hero Academia contains dozens of characters that can stand on their own feet, and multiple scenarios and threats that would make interesting main villains. Specifically, Kyudai Guraki, whose past and theft of quirks in a perfect mystery to layer under the main events of the hero's journey.
