This article contains spoilers from the My Hero Academia series.
My Hero Academia is one of the biggest and most popular anime franchises of the last decade, and a big reason for that is the incredible story that the author of the series, Kohei Horikoshi, has woven around a cast of absolutely phenomenal characters. The protagonist of the series, Izuku Midoriya, is one of the most beloved characters of all, and expectedly so. Fans love Izuku Midoriya for his incredible tenacity, and more than that, his kindness, which pushes him to save all those around him in need. Izuku Midoriya is the epitome of what a Hero should be like, and he's carved out an untouchable spot for himself as a Hero, especially after the conclusion of the Final War.
My Hero Academia Has Officially Confirmed The Biggest Couple In The Series
The biggest couple in MHA has been confirmed, and it has caused a lot of controversy.
While most fans consider Izuku Midoriya to be an accomplished Hero, there is actually one thing that he failed to achieve during his lifetime as a Hero, and that's his original goal. When the series began, Izuku Midoriya clearly mentioned that this was his story of how he became the Greatest Hero. At the end of My Hero Academia, however, Izuku is not considered to be the greatest Hero, and that title still belongs to someone else entirely, that being his mentor, All Might.
Izuku Could Never Become The Greatest Hero
His Dream Was Never To Be The No. 1 Hero
- Horikoshi switched Izuku's words at the end
- Class 1-A Became the Greatest Heroes
When one speaks of Izuku Midoriya's dream, there is a misconception among the fans, largely stemming from mistranslations in the manga. First things first, Izuku Midoriya never wanted to be the Number 1 Hero. He surely did want to be like All Might, but Hero rankings themselves never concerned him.

Izuku also didn't want to become the strongest Hero of all time, simply because he never stated that. What he did state at the beginning of the series was that My Hero Academia was the story of how he became the greatest Hero. Greatest is a term that can have many meanings, unlike No. 1 and Strongest.
Kohei Horikoshi Recommends The New My Hero Academia Replacement To Fans
MHA has a new replacement recommended by Horikoshi - and it might be Shonen Jump's next big hit.
However, at the end of My Hero Academia, Horikoshi switched Izuku Midoriya's words. Whereas he initially stated that he alone would be the greatest Hero, what happened at the end meant that he and his classmates were all, together, the greatest Hero. Horikoshi himself addressed this in an interview:
Question: Chapter 1 ended with "This is the story of how I became the greatest hero", and in chapter 324 that changed to "This is the story of how we all became the greatest heroes". Then in chapter 430, the story ends with "This is the story of how we all continue to reach a hand out to others together". Was this the plan from the beginning of the series?
Horikoshi's answer: No! It wasn't! I originally planned for it to end with Deku becoming a teacher and saying "You can be a hero!". Having used up his powers but looking fully confident... Like that. The reason it changed is that this series was no longer a story just about Deku and One For All. In this series I was exploring "What does it mean to be the greatest hero?" And the answer this manga came to is that it means "reaching a hand out to others", so I thought I would put the answer in writing and that's how the final monologue of chapter 430 became what it is now.

Horikoshi Confirms All Might Is Still Considered The Greatest
The Final MHA Fanbook Confirms All Might As The Greatest
As confirmed by Horikoshi himself, while he started the series with the goal of Izuku Midoriya being the greatest Hero, it wasn't just about him at the end. All of Class 1-A became the greatest Heroes. In fact, Horikoshi himself explained what it meant to be the greatest Hero and to him, the essence of it is to save someone by reaching out to them. In that regard, it makes sense that All Might is still considered the greatest Hero in the world of My Hero Academia, even after the Final War.
My Hero Academia final fanbook officially confirms that All Might is the Greatest Hero of all time. This makes a lot of sense as he's been a Hero for decades and saved far more people than anyone else. All Might was the Symbol of Peace, and even though Izuku saved the world, he most definitely didn't save as many as All Might did. In the end, Izuku's goal that he announced at the beginning was never truly met.
The My Hero Academia manga concluded with 431 chapters for fans to read. All these chapters can be found on Manga Plus. When it comes to the anime, this series is still awaiting its final season, which will be released later this year. The series can be watched on Crunchyroll.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
