Summary

  • Search allows users to learn opponents' names and weaknesses, stored in a mental database.
  • Rewind causes the user to rewind time, with limitations, and is suitable for skilled users only.
  • Erasure has technicalities, such as not affecting permanently mutated individuals.

Not all Quirks in My Hero Academia can be as simple as throwing out a fireball or turning into a giant. The truth is, there are plenty of very complex Quirks seen throughout the series, though this arguably just makes them even more interesting to learn about and see in action. Though they may be a little tricky to use initially, they can turn the tables of an intense fight pretty easily when used by someone who knows what they're doing.

It was clear that author Kohei Horikoshi had a lot of fun conjuring up all the weird and wacky quirks seen in his immensely popular anime series, but it's fair to say that he definitely thought outside the box when creating the ones listed below. Now that all the Quirks in My Hero Academia have been shown, it's time to reflect on those that are considered the most technical and complex of them all.

Learn A Person's Identity And Weakness In Mere Seconds

  • Users: Ragdoll, Shigaraki, All For One

Search is a Quirk that enables the user to learn anything they want to about their opponents. This includes their name and their weaknesses in battle, which is why it was sought after by All For One himself. However, once the user activates Search, the person they have scanned will remain in a sort of mental database, allowing them to seek their target out wherever they may hide.

Because this Quirk is only vaguely described in the series, it's difficult to discern just how far it can go in terms of what it can reveal about a person. What is clear, however, is that it's extremely strong considering that it was a prized possession used by both Shigaraki and All For One later in the series.

7 Rewind

The Dangerous Possibilities Of Rewind Make It A Quirk That Shouldn't Be Handled Lightly

  • User: Eri

Rewind is one of those Quirks that requires a highly skilled user to utilize it without destroying everything in sight. Whenever Eri touches a person and activates her Quirk, she will begin to rewind time. A grim example of how it works came when Eri was still young after she accidentally used Rewind on her father to erase him out of existence, not realizing how strong her Quirk was at the time.

These Quirks in My Hero Academia aren't just strong, they're in an entirely different league of their own due to how broken they are as abilities..

The exact speed and limitations of Rewind are a little sketchy, though it's a Quirk that Eri has struggled to get the hang of due to her young age. As she gets older, she's going to need to put the time in to learn how to use it safely, considering how much damage it's already caused in the series.

6 Erasure

There Are Many Small Technicalities Aizawa Needed To Learn About For Erasure To Work

  • User: Aizawa

Though the teacher of class 1-A possesses an extremely useful Quirk, there are many small technicalities that he would need to learn about during his time in school in order to use it effectively. For example, when using his eyes to deactivate a person's Quirk, the hairs on his body will stand up. Additionally, his eyes will always be fixed on the person he is trying to disarm, giving the villains a chance to counteract him if they're smart enough.

Aizawa's Quirk also cannot affect those who have become permanently mutated because of their Quirk, which can only be realized by testing out the ability in combat. Regardless, Aizawa has been able to use Erasure to shut down a plethora of strong opponents, including Shigaraki when he was at his strongest.

5 Overhaul

It's Hard To Imagine The Plethora Of Weird Ways Overhaul Can Be Used

  • User: Overhaul

In theory, Overhaul is able to use his Quirk to disassemble and then reassemble anything he touches, though the ways that this can actually be used in a practical sense are not made all that clear. Because Overhaul, the villain, is only in the series for a very short period of time. Fans only get to see a few ways that he uses the Overhaul ability.

What is made clear is that Overhaul is able to use his Quirk on actual people. While he uses this to fuse himself with his old partner Shin, he also does it to take Eri in order to extract her blood. The ins and outs of how Overhaul works as an ability can seem a little strange at times, but it's most likely that it just needs a talented user for it to be used to its full effectiveness.

4 Foresight

Nighteye Can Peak Into Another Person's Future, Though He May Not Always Like What He Sees

  • User: Nighteye

The ability to see the future is so strong that it inevitably comes with a few requirements and drawbacks. When Nighteye touches someone physically, he is able to peek into their future, like a ghost out of their body, watching all from the sidelines. Nighteye is only able to reside in the future for a total of one hour and will also gradually lose sight of what is happening the further along he goes.

My Hero Academia is full of incredible characters, but these stand out from the crowd.

There's also the fact that he could only use it once per day, meaning he needs to know exactly who to use it on in order for it not to be a waste. Nighteye would have to learn all of this through years of training and experience on the field, since while it might seem easy to use on the surface, there are a lot of curious aspects to this Quirk that need to be known about.

3 One For All

Midoriya's Quirk Is Packed Full Of Secrets And Unexpected Powers

  • Users: Midoriya, All Might, Previous Vestiges

At a glance, One For All may seem like a Quirk that simply grants a tremendous power boost to the user, but as Midoriya comes to find out, it's actually a lot more complex than he initially realizes. By the time Midoriya had inherited One For All, the previous users of the Quirk had all been able to interact and make contact with one another. This meant that the young Plucky hero was able to inherit all the previous users' abilities, turning him into a sort of Quirk Frankenstein.

With an entire arsenal of new Quirks at his disposal, Midoriya would need to put in a lot of practice to learn each and every one of them. Needless to say, this is far from an easy task, but those who are smart enough to keep track of all their quirks at the same time can become an absolute powerhouse after awakening the true potential of this deadly work.

2 Permeation

Mirio Has Had To Think Outside The Box To Make Permeation Work

  • User: Mirio Togata

Permeation is a rather strange quirk. When Mirio activates Permeation, he will become completely intangible, meaning everything and anything will pass straight through him. This not only includes physical attacks but also air and light, meaning Mirio is essentially ticking down to his eventual death when he decides to use it, making it very risky.

Not someone to be dissuaded by his own imperfections, Mirio has come to somehow use his Quirk to great effectiveness on the battlefield. After he moves through the floor, he is able to shoot himself back up after deactivating his Quirk, though finding this out meant he was being forced to risk his life just to test out his new attacks. It's an extremely tricky Quirk to get used to, but one which can greatly benefit the user if they decide to master it.

1 New Order

New Order Is A Complex Quirk With Infinite Possibilities

  • User: Star and Stripe

New Order is such an intense and strong ability that it can often be a little difficult to grasp at first. It essentially turned Star and Stripe into a god-like being who turns the entire world into her own personal playground. Star and Stripe is the top hero of the United States, and she's able to change the properties and rules of anything she touches. This can take the form of literally anything, so if she wants to hold a laser beam with her bare hands or remove the air from a certain pocket of the sky, she can do so with just a command.

Considering Star and Stripe is breaking the rules of nature with this ability, the possibilities of how it can be used are endless. Since Star is only featured in a handful of episodes and chapters, fans don't get to see the many unique ways that New Order can be thrown out and utilized, though it's still a Quirk that many people still talk about because to this day of how weird and highly technical it is in practicality.
