This list contains spoilers up to the end of season 7 of the MHA anime
While many of the heroes seen throughout My Hero Academia have been involved in their fair share of intense battles, nothing can prepare them for the final war against the dangerous duo All For One and Shigaraki. This is ultimately the conflict that the whole series has been leading up to, resulting in it being an epic send-off to the story where every hero and villain gets to play their part in taking down the opposition.
My Hero Academia: Every Main Character's Age, Height, And Birthday
My Hero Academia is made up of a dynamic cast of characters. Here's what you need to know about every major player.
With that being said though, while fans will most likely be able to spot their favorite character among the crowd, there are still some individuals who are far more important to the war effort than others. Whether this be because of their abilities in battle, their relevance to the wider story, or even just the support that they offer Deku and the others, there are many reasons why characters could be considered vital in this chaotic all-out battle. When taking a look at the roster though, these are among the most important characters to keep an eye on in My Hero Academia's Final War arc.
Himiko Toga
Toga's Powered Up, And She's Not Shy About Using Her Deadly New Abilities
- Quirk: Transform
Once Toga consumes a person's blood, she will be able to mimic their appearance through the use of her Quirk, but during the Paranormal Liberation War, she also tapped into another hidden ability which proved to be hugely useful in the Final War. Not only can Toga resemble a person visually, she can also make use of their Quirk, as was shown when she happily kills Curious and a few of her fellow reporters by throwing them to the ground with Uraraka's Zero Gravity ability.
After the death of Twice, Toga decides to consume his blood so that she can unleash an entire swarm of clones to ravage the battlefield to kick off the war. Because she is capable of creating a terrifying army of mindless servants, she becomes one of the heroes' biggest targets, especially for Uraraka, who sees this as the perfect opportunity to end her on-and-off rivalry with the dangerous villain once and for all.
Hawks
Hawks Puts Everything On The Line To Make The World A Safer Place
- Quirk: Fierce Wings
When Hawks is first revealed at roughly the halfway point of the story, he comes across as a lazy and carefree hero who doesn't seem all that bothered about the events going on around him. As Endeavor explains though, he's definitely not someone to be underestimated, as Hawks is actually a top-ranking Pro Hero who is considered so fast that no villains can keep up with him at full speed, making him ideal for carrying out secret espionage missions where he can score a quick kill before getting away in a few seconds.
My Hero Academia: 18 Strongest End Of Series Characters
My Hero Academia has some incredibly overpowered characters and these are the ones who stand out on top.
The Final War is Hawks' big chance to hog the spotlight he's always wanted, but there's a deeper reason why this fight is so important to him. Hawks has a dream of creating a world where heroes can have some fun and relax, but the only way he'll be able to achieve this is by ensuring the world isn't overrun with villains, which is guaranteed to happen if All For One gets his way. Hawks, specifically, is also a hero who suffers a lot more in the Final War than most of his comrades, so he's an extremely important character that receives a lot of screen time for this particular portion of the story.
Endeavor
The Number One Hero Has A Final Chance To Prove Himself
- Quirk: Hellflame
As Japan's number one hero, it makes sense that Endeavor would play a big part in fending off the villains during the Final War, but there's another reason why he's a character worth focusing on, and it's all because of Dabi. By this point in the story, Dabi had revealed his true identity as Toya, Endeavors' son who was believed to have been killed many years ago. Considering Endeavor had desperately been trying to repent for his actions against his family, the Final War provides one final chance to make things right by doing all he can to pull Dabi from the dark pit he finds himself in.
Of course, the war also puts a lot of eyes on Endeavor and his abilities, considering All Might is no longer around to take down the villains, putting yet even more pressure on the fiery and ferocious Pro-Hero. Endeavor receives a lot more attention in the second half of the story through his personal character development with his family, but the Final War is really where he gets to truly shine the most.
Katsuki Bakugo
Time For Bakugo To Show Just How Far He's Come
- Quirk: Explosion
Bakugo is no longer the hot-headed and brash wannabe hero that he used to be. After barely managing to pass his exams and saving more than a few civilians along the way, by the time the Final War rolls around, Bakugo has learned what it truly means to be a reliable and responsible hero. Because it's taken quite a while to get there though, it means that this epic clash is the opportunity he needs to showcase his newfound strength in action, but also to demonstrate how far he's willing to go to protect those in need.
While many of the heroes might rely on Deku to deal the most amount of damage, considering he possesses multiple Quirks at once, they also recognize that Bakugo is one of the deadliest fighters they have thanks to his Explosion quirk. As a result, the Pro-Heroes accept that Bakugo is one of the only people who can stand his ground against both All For One and Shigaraki, and even though he does take quite a beating in the final conflict, he is still incredibly important to the hero's resistance because of his overwhelming power and strength.
Dabi
A Ticking Time Bomb Who Is Ready To Obliterate Everything In Sight
- Quirk: Blueflame
Shigaraki and All For One may be regarded as the most dangerous villains that the heroes need to face, but at the beginning of the war, much of their focus is firmly placed on Dabi. By this point in the story, Dabi had essentially lost the will to live, and was more than happy to obliterate his own body, and the whole city surrounding him, if it meant finally killing his abusive father once and for all.
My Hero Academia: Every Evolution Of Deku & His Quirk (So Far)
Deku is no longer the quirkless kid he once was as he's evolved significantly throughout the My Hero Academia anime.
Because of this, it becomes clear to Nozu and the other heroes that Dabi needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible, otherwise, the war will be over before it even begins. On a more personal level, the Final War is also important for Dabi since this is where the big payoff for his development throughout the story finally comes around, as fans get to see him interacting with his family for the very first time since he was a child.
All For One
All For One Reveals His True Power, And His Master Plan
- Quirk: Quirk
Despite technically being the main villain of the series, there really isn't a lot known about All For One leading up to the final battle. Sure, he may be a maniacal villain who is clearly looking to groom his latest protege, but his deeper ideology and goals don't become clear until he is forced to take on the heroes directly as part of the Final War. Because he was able to use a fragment of Eri's Rewind Quirk to turn into a younger version of himself, All For One is also far more powerful than he's ever been once he steps onto the battlefield, causing the heroes to scramble for ideas on how to take him down.
There's a plethora of powerful characters who are involved in the war, but the real chess master who is moving the pieces behind the scenes is All For One. Because of this, he's a character that fans need to keep in mind at all times, since if this dangerous villain manages to reach his full potential, the war will be more or less over.
Shigaraki
All For One's Student Has Become Immensely Powerful But Emotionally Troubled Villain
- Quirk: Decay / All For One
Considering he possesses a Quirk which allows him to decay a person's body just by touching them, Shigaraki has always been regarded as a strong villain, but this was taken to a whole new level after he was experimented on by the insidious Dr. Garaki. In the Final War, Shigaraki has become so immensely powerful that he is able to destroy entire landscapes just by touching the floor, which is why the heroes decided to fight him on a floating rock just to keep him away from the surface.
Not only that, but Shigaraki also possesses All For One, meaning he has an abundance of deadly Quirks at his disposal which ensures nobody can even get close to him. At the same time, though, he also goes through his own mental struggles due to the overarching influence of his mentor, who is clearly trying to use Shigaraki's body as a vessel for his own evil deeds. Shigaraki is a villain who has been through a lot in his life, but the strength he has gained from All For One, alongside his emotional development, makes him one of the most important characters in the final arc of the story.
Deku
Will Deku Become Japan's Greatest Hero?
- Quirk: One For All / (Previous Vestige Quirks)
At the very beginning of the My Hero Academia story, Deku's goal is simply to become a hero, but as the plot has progressed, it's become clear that he has been setting his sights much higher. After learning about the secrets of One For All, specifically how it can grant a user the Quirks of those who held it before, Deku has managed to reach an absurd level of power, which essentially makes him the only person capable of dealing with the hyperpowered Shigaraki. Deku's lightning-fast speed and hard-hitting attacks are enough to throw Shigaraki off his game in order to deal some damage, but this is still much easier said than done considering how durable the villain has become as a result of his upgrades.
This epic final battle will also confirm whether Deku can truly be considered one of the greatest heroes who ever lived, or simply a naive young boy who bit off a lot more than he could chew. While many of the other One For All users may have fallen in battle, Deku has the chance to continue the legacy of One For All by using everything he has learned to defeat Shigaraki one final time, though doing so will be far from an easy task.
