Summary

  • Cemedine: Sticky Spray, an effective immobilization tactic
  • Pop Off: Mineta cleverly applies glue balls in battles
  • Float: Provides Midoriya with escape and flight combos

Not all Quirks in My Hero Academia are designed to take over the battlefield. Even though the more spectacular powers, such as explosive energy or fire or super strength, can be distracting, quite a few of both villains and heroes have headed forth into the world with a power set that would, by the first glance, look embarrassing at best. The so-called useless quirks tend not to be directly powerful or visually impressive and thus end up being disregarded, belittled, or even mocked because they act in the most surprising way, the tide turns, and the battle is won.

AFO stealing Quirks
My Hero Academia: 6 Most Selfish Quirks, Ranked

These My Hero Academia Quirks are inherently designed to benefit the user rather than protecting others.

The following list identifies seven of the most bizarre quirks in the show that worked, despite all odds. May it be in the form of virtuous strategies, opportune timing, or complete ingenuity, these skills demonstrate the fact that sometimes being useful does not necessitate the use of brute force. In certain cases, the most offbeat quirks provide the most effect-it just serves to remind players that in a world full of superpowers, resourcefulness can be the wild card.

Cemedine

Sticky Spray turns into Tactical Trap

Kojiro Bondo MHA
  • User: Kojiro Bondo

Cemedine Quirk, in the case of Kojiro Bondo, allows him to fire a glue-like cement out of his head, which is more comic than anything. However, in the case of the U.A joint training arc, Bondo was able to prove that immobilizing an enemy, as opposed to punching them, is equally efficient. His glue was quick-setting, highly viscous, and, to a shocking degree, hard to overcome in a congested space.

By manipulating angles and timing, Bondo was able to corner opponents in the middle of their charge and break formations with ease. Okay, it could be a construction accident, but in the right hands, anything can happen with Cemedine; a whole team can be placed on lockdown, one sticky mess at a time.

Pop Off

The Purple Grapes, Unsuspected Megheroics

Minoru Mineta in My Hero Academia (2)
  • User: Minoru Mineta

The quirk that Mineta has is called Pop Off, and it enables him to remove adhesive balls attached to his head and put them on surfaces. The recoil? They do not adhere to him. The idea? Pure comedy. However, in spite of the fact that he is a gag character, Mineta has used his quirk to his advantage during critical situations.

In the U.A. Saga, he employed pop-offs in order to seal off escape routes and ensnare criminals. In future trainings, he devised homemade traps and also climbed the walls with the use of glue balls. He did not beat more powerful enemies through sheer force, but through creativity, timing, and, to put it simply, stickiness as a strategy.

Float

Easy Lift, Life-Saving Powers

Midoriya Float in One Piece
  • Users: Nana Shimura / Izuku Midoriya

The Float Quirk, at face value, is not really earth-shattering; it merely allows its user to levitate. No lightning. No explosions. However, in moments of being under threat, Float provided Midoriya a literal means of escape. Being able to evade attacks on land or earn a height advantage, Float gave Deku more tools in his bag.

It was also an important factor in learning all the powers of One For All. In conjunction with other Quirks, it made Midoriya an airborne threat, performing flight combos and gaining the upper hand (or lower head in some cases) on the enemy. Float does not have a very flashy pedigree by itself, but combined with grit and gear, it can deliver.

Shock Absorption

Tanky, Terrifying, and Almost Immortal

All Might VS Nomu in My Hero Academia
  • User: Nomu

It might not appear to be overpowered on paper - just soaking up damage? No lasers, no teleports, or cool combinations. However, in an actual battle, where that battle is likely to be full-on city-punch level All Might, suddenly this Quirk is going to go from blah to beast. Shock Absorption allowed the Nomu to receive blow after blow that would have put lesser beings on their knees. Now that is overpowering.

When at a safe distance, these My Hero Academia heroes and villains can cause some serious damage with their Quirk abilities.

In the U.A. Saga attack, even though the Nomu was tasked with killing All Might, no one actually knew he would go toe to toe with him and take all his punches like nothing. The Quirk managed to withstand the whole power of the attacks of All Might and brought the Number One Hero to his limit. It was not the sort of power that anybody admired--it was that sort of power which would make even the strongest tremble and pray. In a world where combat is mostly fought and finished within a couple of fancy maneuvers, this quirk turned survival into the ultimate weapon.

Mushroom

Fungus Among Us and within Us

 Kinoko Komori MHA
  • User: Kinoko Komori

The Mushroom Quirk belonging to Kinoko Komori is as weird as it is named. She is able to cultivate mushrooms at any point, even in opponents. Although that might sound like a biohazard dream, this quirk made the difference in the joint training battles of U.A.

None of her actions involved swinging a punch. Instead, Komori would use her mushrooms to blind the enemy, confuse their breathing, and cause them confusion. She even grew fungi on the respiratory tract of Tokoyami and made him retreat. Never did anyone realize that spore control might be warfare. It is not fancy, but it is really efficient, at least when you do not like nasty surprises with mold.

Zoom

Eagle Eyes of the Engineering Genius

  • User: Mei Hatsume

Using Zoom enables one to view things at extreme distances. Imagine supersight, but using it to invent and reverse-engineer any product you inspect. By itself, the quirk does not win any battles, yet in the case of Mei Hatsume, it allowed her to become one of the sharpest support characters in the series.

Since Zoom improved her design and precision in testing her gear and gadgets, Mei designed gear and gadgets that saved lives and won battles. She did not have to jump into the battle; she is a genius, and her quirk helped others. In a time when it seems that the battlefield is so rammed with explosions and confusion, the girl in the lab with the eyes of an eagle is just the balancing factor between all the poles.

Sugar Rush

Sweet Tooth, Serious Strength

Rikido Sato eats sweets to activate his Sugar Rush Quirk in My Hero Academia
Rikido Sato eats sweets to activate his Sugar Rush Quirk in My Hero Academia
  • User: Rikido Sato

In Sugar Rush by Rikido Sato, the author gets greater power depending on the amount of sugar in his system. It rings like a gag that a Saturday morning animated show would use--and it pretty much is. However, scatter some sugar on his plate, and Sato will get transformed into a juggernaut that could flatten the foes.

During the joint training, Sugar Rush was a major character in breaching barricades and eliminating heavy-hitting enemies. Additionally, he never runs out of snacks. A quirk that enables a user to eat desserts without worrying about carbs? That is not so bad.
