The following article contains spoilers for My Hero Academia, especially the final arc of the story.
The My Hero Academia anime will return this year to deliver its climax. In a few months, My Hero Academia Season 8 will be released, and the new season will deliver what fans have been waiting for since the first season premiered years ago.
Those who have read the manga already know what will happen, but anime-only fans might be a bit surprised by how the events will turn out in this final arc. Especially since, despite being the main character, Deku is not the one who will technically defeat All For One. The Number 1 Hero, All Might, will also not play this role in the series. So who might be stronger than Deku and All Might and the one who will beat All For One?

The Final War Arc started being adapted into anime in the final episodes of My Hero Academia Season 7, but the real action will come in the upcoming Season 8, which is also titled My Hero Academia Final Season. Given how much content is still left to be adapted, fans believe that the new season might contain some bonus content.
Just believe in yourself, and you can become a hero!
— All Might
While Deku is the main character and All Might the Number 1 Hero in Japan, none of them actually defeat All for One. Of course, they both play major roles in the final battle, but the Hero who actually beats All For One is someone else, a character that also has become a fan favorite over time.
The Hero Who Will Defeat All For One
Bakugo gave Tomura/All For One the final blow, but everything that led to Tomura's ultimate defeat was part of a team effort. At some point, All Might and later Deku joined the battle. In fact, Bakugo was severely injured when Deku intervened, to the point that Deku thought that his friend was dead.
Luckily, Bakugo pulled through, pushing himself to unlock new powers in the final fight. All For One even tried to convince him to change sides, but he remained true to his feelings, and his fight against All For One became partly a personal matter. Then, with his last strength, Bakugo was able to defeat All For One once and for all.
Does Bakugo Deserve to Be Hero Number 1?
- Bakugo technically defeaed All For One.
- Years after the war, Bakugo hasn't yet been able to become Hero Number 1.
Although Bakugo defeated All For One, he hasn't been able to claim the top spot on the Japanese Hero Billboard Chart. While people generally recognize his role during the war, Bakugo's personality makes many afraid of him, so he ranks somewhat low considering his achievements. In fact, a spin-off series showing him working on it years after the war would be a great plotline.
Many fans were frustrated that Deku wasn't working as a Pro Hero in the original ending, but Horikoshi has expanded the series and found a way to bring him back into action in some special chapters/content released after the final volume was out. And with Deku back, many think that he deserves to be Number 1, but Bakugo has been working hard to climb up the charts, so he also deserves some recognition.
When Will My Hero Academia's Final Season Be Released?
My Hero Academia Season 8 will premiere on October 4, 2025, on Japanese TV. Crunchyroll has already confirmed that it will stream the final season, and given the previous seasons, there is a good chance that the episodes will debut on Crunchyroll exactly at the same time they air in Japan. Furthermore, Crunchyroll will probably dub the series in English and other languages, as it has done with previous seasons.
Nonetheless, these are all speculations based on how the service has dealt with the series. The company has yet to confirm the streaming schedule and languages in which the season will be available.
My Hero Academia is available to read on MANGA Plus, but only deluxe subscribers can access the entire series.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
