My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is one of the most anticipated series for the Spring 2025 Anime Season. Set in the same universe as the original story, it will serve as a sort of "warm-up" for My Hero Academia Final Season, scheduled for October 2025.

Instead of Heroes, this series focuses on Vigilantes (as the title already suggests), people who use their Quirks to help others and even fight Villains regardless of the law — these are people trying to protect others while risking being arrested for acting illegally.

When Does My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Take Place?

The story of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (MHA: Vigilantes) takes place five years prior to the beginning of the main series, which means that Deku was about 9 years old when the events shown in Vigilantes happened.

Although not written by the original author, Vigilantes is canon to the universe of MHA, and Koichi even makes an appearance in the final arc of the original manga, meaning that he will probably appear in the next season of MHA, since it will cover the final saga of the story.

Where to Watch My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

Vigilantes is streaming on Crunchyroll in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and in many countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa, the CIS, Oceania, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent ("South Asia") and Southeast Asia.

Crunchyroll streams it in territories where the service is available in the above regions. Since the company is also available on Amazon Prime Video, fans can also watch it there as long as they have both a Prime Video and a Crunchyroll account.

Furthermore, Vigilantes is also available on Netflix in select Asian territories: Hong Kong, India and South Korea.

Is My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Dubbed on Crunchyroll?

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Anime Episode Count Revealed

Fortunately, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes dubbed episodes are added at the same time as the subbed version. It is rare for anime series to have same-day dubs like this, although it has become more common in recent years.

However, the same-day dubbing is limited to only a few languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Castilian, French, Italian and German (that is, European languages only, at least for now). They feature a cast of returning voice actors for characters who have already appeared in My Hero Academia.

It is possible that Crunchyroll will eventually add the series dubbed in other languages as well, but they haven't officially confirmed it yet.

Can You Watch Vigilantes Without Watching The Original Series?

Even though Vigilantes is connected to the plot line of the main series, it works as a standalone story, so those who haven't watched My Hero Academia but want to give this series a try can do so without worrying much. They will be able to understand the story easily, as it doesn't require any previous knowledge.

My Hero Academia is available to stream on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in many languages.
