A new line of budget Xbox controllers has just been announced by game publisher and peripheral maker Nacon. As a hardware manufacturer, Nacon has produced a wide range of alternate controllers for PC and Xbox systems, including special models that can connect to a mobile device to play games through Xbox Game Pass’s cloud services. As a publisher and distributor, it has released third-party titles as far back as the Sega Dreamcast era, and its list of games includes the upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City alongside Terminator: Resistance developer Teyon.

The hardware that gamers use to play these games is just as vital to the gaming experience as the games themselves, and there has been no shortage of alternative controllers for Xbox platforms over the past month or so. For example, at the beginning of May Xbox announced a special edition controller inspired by OPI nail polish colors, followed closely by an Artic Cameo variant seemingly released in honor of Military Appreciation Month. However, these extra versions of the standard Xbox controller often cost the same rate as the mainline model, if not more.

According to Pure Xbox, Nacon recently announced a new line of Xbox controllers as part of this week’s Bigben Week 2023 festivities. These officially licensed “EVOL-X” controllers are set to hit stores this September and will be priced at €34.99 (roughly $37.69) in Europe, though price points for other regions haven’t been revealed yet. There will be six Xbox color variants in total, including silver, transparent with LED lighting, metallic red, and metallic blue.

Features-wise, the Nacon EVOL-X Xbox controllers promise to give players four vibration motors to stimulate in-game sensations in titles like Hi-Rush. There will also be the standard wired USB connection with a 3m detachable cable, a reinforced 3.5mm jack for added durability, a non-slip surface for better grip and comfort during lengthy gaming sessions, larger action buttons that are easier and more comfortable to use, and concave stick heads to better fit thumbs and improve handling.

Controllers can be pretty costly, so Nacon’s more affordable Xbox offerings will certainly be appreciated by gamers on a budget. More details about the EVOL-X line will likely come forward as its planned September release window approaches, including how much they will cost outside of Europe.
