The CW is gearing up to introduce the newest member of its superhero lineup next month with yet another teaser for Naomi. After only just debuting as part of DC Comics in 2019, it seems that the superpowered youth's popularity has already earned her a spot next to some of the biggest names in the franchise. Not bad for a blogger.

Naomi was announced as a CW series less than a year ago, and it's already set to make its grand premiere at the beginning of 2022. Helmed by Selma director Ava DuVernay, the new DC show will follow Kaci Walfall as fledgling superhero Naomi McDuffie. But if this new teaser is anything to go by, plenty of troubles will find her before she even has a chance to figure her own topsy turvy world out.

The trailer, launched via an intro by Walfall, goes into far more detail than the much more enigmatic teaser for Naomi from a few months ago. While the other trailer showed Naomi ditching class to catch a glimpse of what appears to be Superman before mysteriously losing consciousness, this one showcases plenty of new characters and the ensuing conflicts that will undoubtedly come with them. Foes and allies alike litter the path forward, and hopefully she's up to dealing with all of them.

Notable appearances include Stephanie March as Akira and Cranston Johnson as Zumbado, 2 new villains who appear driven to exploit Naomi's newfound abilities. Luckily, she also has some people on her side, including Alexander Wraith as Dee, a mysterious tattoo shop owner who appears willing and able to help Naomi figure out her powers. The character is reportedly from the planet Thanagar, which many DC fans will recognize as the homeworld of Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and even sports some wings himself. Maybe this is one of many connections this new series will have to other superhero shows on the CW (even if Hawkman and Hawkgirl mercifully left Legends of Tomorrow in short order).

The Naomi trailer also offers a glimpse at Mary-Charles Jones as Naomi's friend Annabelle, who texted her about the potential Superman sighting in the first teaser. It's unclear what role Annabelle will play in the long run, but based on the comics, it seems likely she'll be a confidant of sorts. If Naomi ends up joining the Justice League under the hero name Powerhouse like she does in the comics, she could use all the support she can get.

Naomi already has a release date and a couple trailers under its belt, so eager fans have plenty to chew on while knowing exactly how much longer they have to wait. This could be the start of a big shift in The CW on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's various phases, and Naomi is certainly an exciting way to get it started.

Naomi will premiere on The CW starting January 11th, 2022.
