Naraka: Bladepoint is one of the best battle royale games available for fans of the genre to jump into. Not only that but Naraka: Bladepoint is a unique type of battle royale, as the game focuses on melee-styled combat. Players are able to wield a large variety of different melee weapons, such as nunchucks, daggers, and even halberds. Though there are ranged weapons as well, melee weapons are at the core of Naraka: Bladepoint's gameplay.
With that, players will need to know the three different main types of attacks. Essentially, the three types of attacks play out like rock-paper-scissors, where gamers will want to use an attacking style that overpowers an opposing attack type. It's also notable that though there isn't a way to block in Naraka: Bladepoint, players can cancel out an enemy's attack by using the same type of 'Focus.' Here's a reference to the three main attack types and how they counter each other:
- Normal > Red Focus > Blue Focus > Normal
What are Normal Attacks?
- R2 or L2. Right or left mouse click
Normal attacks are moves that don't inhibit any sort of 'Focus.' These moves are recognized by not showcasing any sort of color when attacking. Normal actions are performed by just pressing an attack button generally; these movements make up most of the auto-combos with melee weapons. Standard attacks are usually used just to add damage within a combo but are also great for catching parrying enemies off-guard. That's because when an enemy used the Red Focus (parry), typical attacks aren't affected.
What is the Blue Focus?
- Repeatedly click attack for auto-combo or hold an attack button.
Blue Focus attacks are combo tools that are easy to perform while fighting against opponents. These attack types are generally more robust than normal moves, and deal much more damage than the latter. To attack with the Blue Focus, players only need to initiate a combo when armed.
This should automatically unveil at least one Blue Focus attack. Otherwise, simply holding down one of the attack buttons (or holding down both at the same time) will charge up a Blue Focus attack. The Blue Focus attack is essential, as it charges through regular attacks and other specific actions with Hyper Armor.
What is the Red Focus?
- Press both attack buttons at the same time. (R1 also works on a controller).
Red Focus, also known as parrying and the Parry Focus is a quick move that players can do to counter an enemy. Parrying an opponent will cause them to drop their weapon and briefly become unarmed. This is one of the most underused actions in Naraka: Bladepoint and players who have mastered their parry timing drive up to an entirely higher level in the battle royale.
The Parry Focus utilizes an opponent's attack pattern against them, and when used against a Blue Focus, will parry successfully. This will knock opponents back, along with unarming them.
Naraka: Bladepoint is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
