At the center of the battle royale genre is a familiar gameplay loop: search the map for gear, use that gear to kill opponents, and repeat. The player's ability to successfully find the right gear for a situation can sometimes feel as important as the player's skills in combat. Yet sometimes the perfect weapon proves elusive.

Naraka: Bladepoint offers a solution to the search for elusive loot: Wishing Wells. These structures allow the player to trade away their current gear for the possibility of something better. Though wishing wells aren't the most important part of Naraka, knowing how to find and use them successfully is a critical skill for beginners and veterans alike.

How To Find Wishing Wells

Naraka: Bladepoint - Using Wishing Wells

Before the player can use a Wishing Well they first have to locate one. This isn't particularly difficult, since there are a number of them scattered around the map, but between looting and fighting other players, it can sometimes be difficult to track down a Well, especially for beginners. To make things a little more complicated, the map doesn't track Wishing Wells, leaving it up to the player to locate them.

Finding Wishing Wells may not be as easy as earning Tae, but a little research goes a long way. The following are a few locations at which players can find Wishing Wells in the Herald's Trial:

  • In a clearing down the slope from the outpost north of Sunwing's Rest, on the northern edge of the map.
  • By a stream dotted with mushrooms on the island's western coast, between Shipwreck Expanse and Sunwing's Rest.
  • By a damaged building in the Council Courtyard, east of Shipwreck Expanse.
  • Near the river north of Sunvale Dwelling.

How To Use Wishing Wells

Naraka: Bladepoint - Wishing Wells

With its focus on melee-combat, Naraka: Bladepoint isn't a traditional battle royale, but loot is as important here as it is in the rest of the genre. As players scavenge, they will inevitably find some loot that isn't helpful. In most BRs, the player would simply be stuck choosing between this unwanted gear or nothing at all. Wishing Wells gives Naraka players the chance to trade items they're carrying for different ones.

To use a Wishing Well, the player must be close to it (either standing in the well or right next to it). The player can then drop an inventory item, and after a brief delay, the dropped item will disappear, and the Wishing Well will produce a new item in its place.

Wishing Wells will accept any item except for Soul Jades, which cannot be exchanged for items. It's also worth noting that a given Well can be used more than once. In fact, the player can use each Wishing Well three times before its power is exhausted, so there's no need to trek all the way across the map for another well if the player only has a couple of items to trade, which can speed things up when experimenting with a new character.

RNG determines what item the player receives in exchange for their offering, so there is no exact way to know what the trade will produce. That said, the higher the rarity of the offered item, the greater the chance that the Wishing Well will produce a rare item in exchange, letting the player get back to practicing their parry. Bringing common items to the well to trade isn't pointless, but by doing so the odds of getting something valuable are much lower than by bringing a rare item to the Well.
