Naruto is among the few anime series that have an excellent cast of characters. Masashi Kishimoto worked on them, which is why they're so intriguing to readers. But there is a downside to having so many phenomenal characters in a series, and that is not being able to give them all enough screen time.
Naruto: 8 Characters Who Came To Respect Naruto
Though these characters weren't fond of the young knucklehead ninja to begin with, they came to respect Naruto over the course of the story.
It's certainly frustrating for fans, as they want to see their favorites in the story. However, there isn't much they can do about it except wonder how things would be if their most adored character were to spearhead a series. With that in mind, here are some Naruto characters who could easily be the lead of their own series.
This post contains spoilers for Naruto.
Hashirama Senju
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: Wood Release
Hashirama Senju was the First Hokage of the Hidden Leaf, and he laid the village's foundation alongside Madara Uchiha. Since Naruto is set many years after Hashirama's death, a lot of details about his past are unknown, such as how he died, how he met Mito, and how he dealt with the grief of losing so many family members and friends.
Hashirama's series could also delve into his strength. After all, he is one of the strongest ninjas in history and one of the two people who were given the title of "God of Shinobi." It could even cover how Hashirama mastered the Wood Release and his Sage Mode.
Minato Namikaze
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: None
Minato Namikaze is widely believed to be the fastest ninja in the series. His insane speed was because of the Flying Thunder God technique, which was originally developed by Tobirama but perfected by the Yellow Flash. At the peak of his powers, Minato was so feared by the other Shinobi nations that they had issued flee-on-sight orders to their soldiers.
Naruto: Every Main Character's Age, Height, And Birthday
Naruto's main characters are among the most iconic in anime, so let's go through their birthdays, heights, and ages.
Minato's story is complex, but a lot of the key details have been skipped over completely. He checks every box for a protagonist that can lead their own series. Hopefully, Kishimoto will write a prequel, which covers Minato's story extensively.
Kakashi Hatake
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: Sharingan
Kakashi Hatake is one of the most loved Naruto characters. He caught the eyes of the audience with his charming yet humorous personality. Since his debut, Kakashi has become one of the most recognizable characters from the series. It's safe to say that no Naruto fan would complain if Kakashi were to be given a series of his own.
It could cover Kakashi's childhood days and his relationship with Sakumo Hatake. In fact, the series could even reveal Sakumo's full strength and how he became so famous. Kakashi's story could also cover his days at the Academy and his rivalry with Might Guy in detail.
Jiraiya
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: None
Jiraiya was a member of Konoha's Legendary Sannin, who helped the village to secure many important victories. Despite being so strong, Jiraiya's role was primarily that of a mentor. He was responsible for teaching the likes of Minato Namikaze, Nagato Uzumaki, and Naruto Uzumaki.
Naruto: Oldest Villains, Ranked
Some Naruto antagonists have been around much longer than others; here are the oldest villains who have appeared throughout the anime and manga.
Most fans would agree that a story that is completely focused on Jiraiya would be nothing short of amazing. It would give readers a better understanding of his early life, when he was deemed a weakling. It could also cover his relationship with Orochimaru, whom he considered a close friend. The series could also delve into his solo travels and missions; after all, he is the ninja with the most confirmed missions.
Itachi Uchiha
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village, Akatsuki
- Kekkei Genkai: Sharingan
Itachi was the prodigy of the Uchiha Clan, which is why he was held in high regard by his parents and everyone else around him. In spite of being showered with continued praise, Itachi never became arrogant. He remained humble and tried his best to avoid fights.
Itachi is easily one of the most popular Naruto characters, so there is no one who would mind seeing him as the protagonist of a different series. A separate manga about Itachi could easily cover how the constant exposure to destruction affected his thinking. Additionally, it could reveal his relationship with people other than his family, like Shisui, Kakashi, and Izumi. The series could also focus on Itachi's early days with the Akatsuki.
Neji Hyuuga
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan
Neji Hyuuga is one of the few characters that Kishimoto gave a botched ending. When he debuted in the story, everyone was blown away by his strength. Neji was a key character in the Chunin Exams and the rest of Part 1, but he faded into oblivion in Naruto Shippuden.
He was a genius who was misused by Kishimoto and killed off in the most bizarre way. For this reason alone, Neji deserves to lead a series of his own. One where his past could be explored properly, and how he changed his philosophy completely after encountering Naruto.
Might Guy
Affiliation: Hidden Leaf Village
- Kekkei Genkai: None
Might Guy may not be the coolest-looking character in Naruto, but there is no denying that he is among the most entertaining characters. Guy is a Taijutsu genius who mastered the Eight Gates and even managed to keep up with Kakashi Hatake.
Due to the overwhelming number of characters in the story, Might Guy didn't get nearly enough screen time, which a separate series can fix.
