The following article contains spoilers for Naruto.
Naruto is a series with a rich world and mythology — worldbuilding is arguably one of Masashi Kishimoto's greatest strengths as a creator. He proved this in Naruto by creating a solid world based on scientific concepts, especially those related to genetics and biology, but still with a fantasy touch. This world is being further expanded in Boruto, which adds to the franchise while maintaining cohesion within the universe.
While the series gets a more serious tone at a certain point, Kishimoto still provides readers with things to make them have a little laugh. It can be a joke in the middle of a chapter, or it can be an amusing cover. And Naruto fans have recently remembered probably the craziest cover Kishimoto has ever drawn for the series.
Naruto: Was the Reincarnation Theme a Last-Minute Retcon or Planned All Along?
Naruto's reincarnation theme is added a layer of nuance to the narrative, but many question whether it was planned all along or merely a retcon.
Naruto Chapter 362 Had An Insane Cover

One of the most insane covers in the series was Chapter 362, "The Ultimate Art!!," which focused on Deidara and Sasuke. The mouths on Deidara's hands are depicted in an amusing pose, as if they were kissing — and perhaps it shouldn't be considered suited for children. Still, it's impressive that Kishimoto had enough freedom to publish a chapter cover like that. This type of cover would hardly be approved for a volume.
Fans have made mostly positive comments about it on Reddit, with a humorous touch. For example, one fan wrote:
You really gotta hand it to Kishimoto, he knows how to look out every ounce of confusion and intrigue from his content.
What Was Happening in the Series in Chapter 362?
At that point in the story, Sasuke Uchiha was trying to get more information on Itachi Uchiha after Deidara was defeated. However, Deidara refused to give him any valuable information, and promised to prove his superiority over the Sharingan by performing one last trick to try to kill Sasuke.
This happened in the middle of the Itachi Pursuit Mission, one of the first arcs of the second part of the story, which begins after a timeskip and is titled Naruto Shippuden in the anime. As the name suggests, there is a mission to locate Itachi Uchiha — Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke assemble different teams with the same objective. This is a turning point in the story, as the plot starts to focus more on Sasuke, who demonstrates good leadership skills despite all odds.
Deidara was introduced briefly in the first part of Naruto, but he receives much more spotlight in the second part, as the actions of the Akatsuki and their relation to Itachi become more important. The battle with Sasuke lasts a few chapters and is very exciting, as it prepares readers for the thrilling meeting between Sasuke and Itachi.
Who Is Deidara in Naruto?
Deidara was an S-rank shinobi and a member of the Explosion Corps in Iwakagure, the Hidden Village of the Land of Earth, before leaving the village and joining the Akatsuki. He is famous for having a mouth in the palm of each hand — they appeared after he cast the forbidden technique from Iwagakure (Iwagakure kinjutsu).
Art is an explosion!
— Deidara
Deidara had the Explosion Release (a kekkei genkai), which he combined with clay techniques. While the series was still running in Shonen Jump, he was a fairly popular character, and his distinctive design (especially his hands) caught the attention of many fans.
Where to Officially Read Naruto?
Naruto has been licensed in many countries around the world, and it may be one of the most widely translated manga (which does not mean it is available in every language). In the US, VIZ Media officially licenses the series, and fans can read all the chapters on MANGA Plus with a deluxe subscription — the series is available in both English and Spanish (they can also buy the volumes if they want). A few spin-off manga are also on MANGA Plus.
Naruto is available to stream on Netflix, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and other services.
