This article contains spoilers for the Boruto series.

The world of Naruto has shifted greatly in the Boruto era, and fans of the story are very well aware of that, much to the displeasure of many Naruto fans. The Boruto series has changed the world drastically, with characters such as Naruto and Sasuke being removed from the plot entirely. At the end of Boruto Part 1, fans saw Naruto Uzumaki being sealed away by Kawaki, and since then, he has not made his return. To the rest of the world, Naruto Uzumaki was declared dead, which means that Konoha lost its strongest Hokage forever in their eyes.

It has been 3 years since, and Konoha continues to be ruled by Shikamaru as an interim Hokage. However, that won't be the case for long, and Konoha truly needs to elect the perfect replacement for the 7th Hokage. It appears that the time for this new Hokage replacement to arrive is now, and based on the different personalities that exist around the village, there is only one true replacement for Naruto Uzumaki.

The Seventh Hokage Was The Most Legendary Ninja In History

Naruto Uzumaki's journey to the position of Seventh Hokage was quite endearing for the fans to witness. He embarked on his adventure as a boy detested by the entire village, with little power to his name. Naruto Uzumaki then went on to gain great powers as his rivalry with Sasuke grew. His main goal was to earn the acceptance and acknowledgement of the village, which he did by becoming the Hokage eventually. But, the journey to that point was certainly not easy.

Naruto's journey was one of perseverance, self-belief, and of course self-sacrifice as well. Naruto lost a lot, but in the end, he also gained the love and support of the people around him.

In the midst of it all, Naruto grew to be a person who sought to rid the world of pain, violence, and misery, and it is safe to say that he achieved the vast majority of this throughout his story. By the end of the Naruto series, he became the Seventh Hokage and was also recognized as the strongest shinobi in the entire history of the ninja world. Quite clearly, Naruto was celebrated as a phenomenal character in his own story, but Boruto has seen that his legacy has been ruined quite a lot.

Konoha Needs The Perfect Seventh Hokage Replacement Immediately

Boruto's End Could Restore Naruto And Sasuke's Legacy For Good

Naruto Uzumaki is no longer the strongest, and he isn't even as strong as he used to be. His biggest power, Kurama, was stripped from him in the Boruto series, and more than that, fans also got to see him sealed away, which essentially cut him out from the vast majority of the story as well. Despite Naruto being the iconic character that he is, as well as the face of the entire franchise, he was treated horribly in Boruto.

In this world, wherever there is light, there are always shadows. As long as there is a concept of victors, the vanquished will also exist. The selfish desire for peace gives rise to war. And hatred is born in order to love. — Madara Uchiha, Naruto

Whether that was right or wrong for the franchise to do is one thing, but within the story itself, Konoha definitely needs a replacement for Naruto three years into his sudden disappearance, and the time is now to bring back the legendary Sixth Hokage as his perfect replacement, which fans know to be Kakashi.

Naruto's Perfect Replacement Right Now Is Kakashi Hatake

While most fans would look at next-generation characters to replace Naruto Uzumaki, the fact is that none of them are truly ready. Sarada Uchiha will eventually go on to become the Hokage, but right now, she is neither strong enough nor mature enough to reach that status. Similarly, Konohamaru is an incredibly underwhelming character. Based on his current performance, he should not come close to the position of Hokage ever in his entire life.

The only person who can truly take the position of Hokage and deserve it right now is Sakura Haruno, but the Boruto series has deemed her irrelevant. The only thing that this leads fans to is bringing Kakashi back.

Kakashi was already the Hokage of Konoha, and in the absence of Naruto, it makes sense for him to return and leave the village once again. Bringing back a Hokage isn't something foreign to Konoha. For instance, when the Fourth Hokage died, the Third Hokage came back and took over the position until the Fifth was elected after his death.

Similarly, right now, in the absence of the Seventh Hokage, it makes sense for the village to go back to a very powerful and intelligent shinobi that is Kakashi, and allow him to leave the village through this turbulent time. This would help the series in two ways:

  • It would allow Konoha to regain some sense of semblance and regroup as a powerful village. It would give them a strong leader on top, and allow for newer strategies to be formulated in the battle against the Shinju, and eventually, attempt to bring back Naruto.
  • Secondly, it would also ease the pain in the hearts of the fans. The Boruto series has done a great disservice to all Naruto characters, and that includes Kakashi. Bringing him back right now would be the best decision that Ikemoto could make, and it would also make the fans happy.

Kakashi would only be the Hokage of the village for a short time. Once the Boruto series reaches its end, fans could then see the likes of Konohamaru step up and take on the position. Of course, until then, Konohamaru would have to work on a lot because right now he does not deserve the position at all. Once he is truly dependable, Konohamaru would then be welcomed as the Eighth Hokage of the village. After him, Sarada Uchiha would rise as the Ninth Hokage of the village, and all fans of the story would be satisfied.

This isn't a tale about a boy who aims to become Hokage. That was my dad's story. This is none other than my story! — Boruto Uzumaki, Boruto Chapter 1

In the midst of it all, fans would also see the return of Naruto Uzumaki, and that would truly be fantastic for everyone as he would then also be involved in many exciting battles against either Otsutsuki or Shinju.

Of course, at the end of the day, the decision to actually enforce all these things rests with the author of the story. Whether Ikemoto wants to bring back Kakashi or not remains to be seen. But from the side of the fans, this is something that they would absolutely love for Boruto to do, because it would fix many problems that the series is currently riddled with and excite the fans to no end.
