This post contains spoilers for Naruto.
Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are not just the two main characters of Masashi Kishimoto's magnum opus, but they're also industry icons who have had a lasting impact on the anime industry. Many manga artists have been inspired by the two and have tried to incorporate some of their traits into their own characters.
Needless to say, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha have always been the highlight of Naruto. They grew stronger and eventually reached a level that nobody else could touch them. Since they were always in the spotlight and competing with each other, it was difficult to figure out who was the stronger between them.
Naruto: Kishimoto Reveals A Big Regret With Sakura Haruno
Sakura Haruno was a let down in Naruto. Kishimoto reveals his regrets when it comes to her character.
Naruto Is Stronger Than Sasuke
Naruto Uzumaki Is The Strongest Ninja Of All Time
- Naruto is stronger than Sasuke
- Naruto never went all-out in his fights against Sasuke
From the beginning, Kishimoto has been very direct about the question concerning Naruto and Sasuke's strength. Naruto has almost always been stronger than Sasuke. Even in the first part, Naruto had better feats than his counterpart. Sasuke only got close when he received the Curse Seal from Orochimaru.
In the early stages of part 2, Sasuke had the edge over Naruto because the latter had hardly improved under Jiraiya, which allowed the Uchiha to pull ahead. Sasuke maintained the lead for a while, until Naruto gained access to the Nine Tails Chakra Mode. With the power-up, Naruto's physical abilities increased astronomically. He was able to take down opponents with a few punches.
In the middle of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto and Sasuke received power-ups from Hagoromo Otsutsuki. The Sage of Six Paths asked them some questions before giving them new abilities that would let them crush the threats of Madara Uchiha and later Kaguya Otsutsuki. Once the enemies had been neutralized, Naruto and Sasuke fought each other at the Valley of End. Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto and become the Hokage who would shoulder the hatred of the entire world. Meanwhile, Naruto was only trying to save Sasuke from his destructive nature. The Uzumaki had no malice towards his rival, and he tried his level best to stop things from getting worse.
I will shoulder your hatred and die with you! Because I'm your friend! —Naruto
Unfortunately, Sasuke was consumed by darkness, and he didn't want to stop. The Uchiha used every single trick in the book to try and win, but he was unable to get the better of Naruto. Ultimately, the fight ended with Sasuke admitting defeat. Throughout the battle, Naruto was superior to Sasuke, and he wasn't trying to hurt him. If he wanted, Naruto could have killed Sasuke and saved the rest of the world. However, he wanted to do both, which is why he was holding back.
Naruto And Sasuke Deserve Better
Naruto And Sasuke Have Been Treated Harshly
After Kishimoto put an end to the long debates involving Naruto and Sasuke, fans couldn't help but wonder what was next for the two characters. It was later revealed that Ikemoto would write a sequel set in the same universe. Initially, Kishimoto didn't want anything to do with the project, but at one point, he returned as the supervisor.
Fans were expecting Naruto and Sasuke to have some involvement in Boruto, but nothing could have prepared them for what was to come. Both the characters were humiliated multiple times in the sequel, and they even lost their biggest powers. This led to a sharp decline in their strength, and the two had to be sidelined.
Some fans were hopeful that things would change in the future, but that wasn't the case. Presently, Sasuke and Naruto are archaic, and they are no longer actively involved in the story. While one can understand Ikemoto's decision to keep the two stars away from the story, there is no denying that the author could have handled things better. He could have simply written them off from the beginning instead of humiliating them in almost every arc. The sequel is still not over, so Ikemoto still has the opportunity to redeem himself. However, it will largely depend on how he executes the story from this point onwards.
