This article contains spoilers from the Naruto series.

Fans of the Naruto series are waiting to this day for the return of the legendary mangaka, Masashi Kishimoto. When Kishimoto ended Naruto over a decade ago, fans were absolutely convinced that he would eventually return with a new manga of his own. After resting for quite a while, Kishimoto gave a new manga series some thought, absolutely this series turned out to be Samurai 8. As every fan of the author knows already, Samurai 8 wasn't well-received at all and was eventually axed from Shonen Jump.

Since then, Kishimoto has been rather quiet, but more recently, he has once again started teasing plans of writing a new manga. Kishimoto has had ample time on the sidelines now, and he should be working on his next manga soon enough. While most fans are unaware of this, Kishimoto has actually already confirmed that he wants to draw more manga and depict unique ideas in them. This means his return to Jump is inevitable, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what he delivers when he does come back.

  • New Manga Will Still Excite The Fans

Masashi Kishimoto will return to drawing manga and this has explicitly been stated by the author on two separate occasions. When Kishimoto was asked about what his plans for the future are in 2024, he stated that for now, he wants to spend time with his family, but he also stated that it is spending time with his family that will eventually give him the motivation to start a new project. In other words, Kishimoto is telling the fans that while he enjoys the time off, he is still thinking about returning to drawing manga again. It seems Kishimoto will eventually return to Jump with a stunning new manga series.

To never give up! That's my ninja way. — Naruto Uzumaki

More recently, Kishimoto also stated that he already has some plans for his next manga. While speaking of applying his own life experiences to Naruto, Kishimoto stated that he has many ideas that he wants to use in his story. He went on to state that the ideas of pressure and expectations are massively important in his new project. He explicitly stated that he wants to depict these ideas in his future work, and asked fans to wait for his story patiently.

In the beginning of Naruto, there was a lot of emphasis placed on hard work beating out talent as told through the characters of Rock Lee, Guy, and Naruto himself. But afterwards, it was revealed that Naruto was the son of the Fourth Hokage. Did you never consider giving Naruto a normal background, rather than having him be born as the "chosen one"?

Kishimoto:

That's a hard-hitting question, but it does get to the heart of the matter. At first, I wrote Naruto as a character who struggles with his impoverished upbringing. It's something that we have in common. Coming straight out of a rural town, desperately wanting to be recognized, but unable to find anyone willing to give me a shot; I took those feelings that defined my childhood and entrusted them to Naruto. By doing that and by working on Naruto, I slowly but surely began to gain recognition and praise from people around the world. In time, that feeling of wanting to be recognized by others had already been satisfied, and I found myself having some difficulty continuing to write him. While I was struggling with that block, I thought that maybe there could be some avenues to explore with family lineage or blood ties. I also came to realize that the pressure of living up to expectations can also take a heavy toll on a person. So I took that shift in my own mindset and applied it to Naruto. I'd like to depict my conclusions regarding that idea in a manga someday, so please wait patiently for it.

Kishimoto's New Manga Could Be A Naruto Sequel

New Series Could Be Set Before Boruto

Naruto Uzumaki (1) - Naruto Shippuden

At this point, it is unclear what Kishimoto's next manga is going to be. However, what can be said for sure is that Kishimoto's new manga could potentially be connected to Naruto. This is because Kishimoto spoke on the lessons of his life that he applied to Naruto Uzumaki, and asked fans to wait for when he applied these lessons to his new series. The likelihood of Kishimoto talking about a new Naruto series is very high.

Hopefully, if it is a Naruto series, it can only be something set in the blank period. This would be a perfect point for the franchise to start a new series and breathe new life into Naruto. It would also take the fans away from Boruto, which has largely been a failure. Hopefully, more information about this project will be provided in the upcoming months.
