The Akatsuki is one of the highlights of Naruto. The organization was founded many years prior to the current story, and with time, its goals changed as well. At one point, they acted as mercenaries who were then hired by villages to fight their wars, which helped them to accumulate money.

Under Yahiko, Akatsuki's goal was to help the people of Amegakure, especially those suffering from the constant wars. It was a peaceful organization that had no desire to hurt others. However, the organization changed radically when Nagato took over control. He wanted to turn the Akatsuki into a radical group to acquire the tailed beasts. In order to accomplish such a task, Nagato needed help from other people.
The Akatsuki Had Many Powerful Members
Nagato recruited many powerful individuals to the organization, and they played a crucial role in its success. In Naruto, there were ten characters who stuck with the Akatsuki, and these were:
- Nagato Uzumaki
- Konan
- Itachi Uchiha
- Obito Uchiha
- Kisame Hoshigaki
- Hidan
- Kakakuzu
- Deidara
- Sasori
- Zetsu

The Akatsuki Took Down Many Dangerous Fighters
Almost every member of the Akatsuki possessed insanely powerful abilities that made them a nightmare to fight against. Out of the ten members, Nagato, Itachi, and Obito were the ones who stood out the most. Nagato had the Rinnegan, and he harnessed its power using six different bodies. When Nagato came to the Hidden Leaf, he nearly destroyed the entire village with a single attack.4
Itachi Uchiha was a prodigy who had access to several abilities, like Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, and Susanoo. He didn't utilize them every single time due to his failing health, but when he did, the outcome of almost any fight was in his favor. Itachi's presence also kept Obito in check and prevented the latter from taking any drastic decisions.
Last but not least, Obito Uchiha kept his identity hidden for the majority of the series, only revealing it when the time was right. Obito only had Mangekyou Sharingan, which allowed him to use the short-range Kamui. Despite having so many strong members, the Akatsuki is no longer the strongest organization in Naruto.
The Kara Is Stronger Than The Akatsuki
In Boruto, the author introduced a new organization called Kara, which was led by Jigen, whose body was taken over by Isshiki Otsutsuki. The Kara was founded by the Otsutsuki, who wanted to get hold of the chakra fruit for himself. The organization was divided into Inners and Outers.

The Outers were dispensable people who supported the organization from well...the outside. Ao was an Outer who dedicated his life to serving the organization. While Outers were formidable in their own right, Inners were the true monsters within the organization. Every Inner had undergone bodily modifications, making him then superior to regular humans. Furthermore, Inners had been transplanted with Shibai Otsutsuki's DNA. Like the Akatsuki, the leadership has also changed, but its goal has remained more or less the same. The first iteration of Kara, led by Jigen, consisted of the following individuals:

- Delta

All Kara Members Had Strong Abilities
The abilities of the Inners would easily allow them to take down an Akatsuki member. Jigen or Isshiki Otsutuki could wipe out the entire Akatsuki without any problems. After all, he was able to overwhelm both Naruto and Sasuke at the same time. Isshiki had access to the Kokugan, a rare Kekkei Genkai that was unique to the members of the Otsutsuki Clan. The eye granted Isshiki access to several different abilities, including Sukunahikona and Daikokuten.
With Sukunahikona, Isshiki could shrink himself or any other inanimate object. The ability was effective in avoiding any incoming attack and in launching surprise attacks. Naruto and Sasuke also struggled to keep up with Sukunahikona, and Isshiki took full advantage of this. Daikokuten is not an offensive ability that can directly hurt people, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Isshiki relied on the technique to lock away anything shrunk by Sukunahikona in a separate dimension where time doesn't flow.
Using the two techniques in conjunction enabled Isshiki to ruthlessly beat Naruto and Sasuke. Since the present versions of Naruto and Sasuke are far stronger than any Akatsuki member, there's absolutely no doubt that Isshiki would likely solo the organization. If he were supported by other Kara members, it would be a complete massacre.
