This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is one step closer to Mamushi’s long-awaited attack on Konoha, as the terrifying Shinju finally begins to execute his game plan against Eida. Since Jura and the God Trees came into being, Konoha has been on high alert, with Shikamaru leading the response team alongside Boruto Uzumaki and Kashin Koji in secret.
This moment of uncertainty in the Boruto manga continues to remind fans of Naruto Uzumaki’s relentless resolve to protect the village and his ability to unite people through passion and determination. His long absence from the battlefield, however, has pushed the next generation to move forward, almost as if they no longer need Naruto Uzumaki.
It's Real: Kishimoto Confirms The Death Of One Of The Uzumaki Family In Boruto
Fans were shocked by Kishimoto's death of an Uzumaki in Boruto.
Naruto Uzumaki Is Now a Side Character in Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki’s Role Has Been Reduced
- Naruto Uzumaki is one of the sidelined characters in Boruto.
- Naruto remains inactive after his sealing.
Fans are not used to seeing an inactive Naruto Uzumaki in Boruto, especially after seeing him fight, lead, and inspire others for a very long time. He was always fighting with all his might, refusing to surrender no matter how impossible the odds seemed. Whenever he was on the battlefield, hope would always follow. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case anymore, as Naruto has long been sealed and his return remains uncertain.
Since Boruto: Two Blue Vortex began, Naruto has been staying in the Daikokuten dimension with Hinata, unable to grow stronger, lift a finger, or even find a way to free himself from Kawaki’s seal. All Naruto does is exist in complete stillness, like a side character in a story he once used to lead. For someone who was once the main hero of the shinobi world, being reduced to a side character feels painfully unnatural to many fans.
For the next generation to step up, Naruto Uzumaki’s role has been reduced. The same goes with Sasuke, who remains inactive as well. If these two legendary ninjas were still active, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the story would never move beyond their shadow. After all, they have raised an entire generation of fans who still see them as the ultimate heroes of the shinobi world.
Naruto Uzumaki’s Relevance Keeps Fading
Naruto’s Time as the Main Hero Is Over
Naruto Uzumaki’s role in Boruto went from being Konoha’s strongest protector to a nerfed hero whose influence and relevance have slowly faded with each new chapter. In fact, Naruto fans still have issues about his unexpected sealing, as the manga never fully explored the emotional aftermath of his disappearance or the reactions of those characters close to him outside Konoha.
The Boruto manga did not even show any real mourning in Konoha, except for that Sarada scene where she activated her Mangekyo Sharingan out of sheer anguish and frustration. After that, the time skip happened, and Naruto’s death was quickly brushed aside. While fans recognize that the focus has shifted to Boruto, Kawaki, and the next generation, many still feel that Naruto’s absence deserved more emotional weight and acknowledgment.
If you don’t like the hand that fate’s dealt you with, fight for a new one.—Naruto Uzumaki
At this point, Naruto’s relevance in Boruto is minimal, while the story increasingly centers not only on Boruto and Kawaki but also on Himawari. It’s about time for fans to adjust their expectations, knowing that the greatest battles and toughest decisions now rest in the hands of Boruto Uzumaki, the real main character of the manga series.
Boruto Won’t Be Bringing Naruto Back Anytime Soon
Naruto Uzumaki’s Sealing Could Last Longer
Naruto Uzumaki is at his lowest point in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, trapped in a pocket dimension with no way to act or come back stronger with a massive power-up. While he remains one of the strongest characters in Boruto, he is not strong enough to protect the village or even himself from the likes of Jura and his kind. If Kawaki were to free him, Jura would most likely devour him if it came down to a fight.
With this, there are high expectations that Naruto’s sealing will last longer in Boruto, as freeing him now would send him into an unwinnable battle. Unless Kishimoto and Ikemoto plan to give Naruto a new power-up, possibly turning him into the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, his return would likely result in unnecessary risk and tension, emphasizing why the story needs to keep the Seventh Hokage sidelined while Boruto and the next generation take charge.
