This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
When it comes to the most iconic characters in the Boruto series, fans know very well that Naruto Uzumaki stands at the very top. This doesn't come as a surprise to any fan of the franchise, given that Naruto Uzumaki is the reason that it exists in the first place. Naruto was the beloved protagonist of the original series and fans often resonate with him due to the struggles that he faces in life and because he reaches the top despite being shunned and hated by all those around him. Naruto is determined and above all, he never gives you, and all these qualities make for an absolutely amazing character that fans love even a decade after the conclusion of the series.
Say Goodbye To Naruto Uzumaki And Sasuke Uchiha For Now
Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha will not be returning anytime soon, and fans should bid them farewell for now in Boruto.
Unfortunately, the sequel to Naruto, that is, Boruto hasn't been quite what fans hoped it to be. While exciting in its own way, Boruto has done a tremendous disservice to the characters that established a basis for it, especially the most iconic character, Naruto Uzumaki. At this point, all fans of the Naruto series admit that Boruto has ruined Naruto in the sequel, and that he deserves better treatment, even if he isn't the main character.
Naruto Uzumaki Was Stripped Of All His Powers
Naruto Remains Sealed Away In Boruto
- Naruto lost Kurama in Boruto
- He won't return until the end
The Boruto series started off quite well for Naruto Uzumaki, and fans knew very well that the story wouldn't revolve around him, given that Boruto Uzumaki was the protagonist. Hardly any fan of the series had a problem with that, but the issues started to emerge when Naruto Uzumaki and his entire generation of ninjas were sidelined for no reason.
Boruto, I'll send you to the same place I sent the Seventh! — Kawaki
In Naruto, fans of the saw older Jonin, or Kage, take the center stage because of the strength and experience they carry. Even if they didn't, the fact was that they were relevant characters and their presence was important for world-building. In Boruto, these concepts don't exist at all.
The Kage have hardly been efficient in the Boruto series, and the Jonin of the villages, including Konoha, are nonexistent. Above all, the series does an immense disservice to the old generation of Shinobi, especially the man who achieved all, Naruto Uzumaki. As the Seventh Hokage and the strongest ninja, fans expected Naruto to be central to the story at all times. But, because Ikemoto couldn't write a story around the next generation characters without removing Naruto and Sasuke from the picture, their legacies were tarnished.
Boruto: Kishimoto Confirms A Major Power-Up For Kawaki
Kawaki is in for a major power-up as the Boruto story progresses.
Boruto, all the village is my family. Everyone is equal to me. — Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto's bond with Kurama was completely ruined in Boruto and an iconic bond was severed, all because Boruto Uzumaki needed to shine on his own. If that wasn't enough, then there's also the fact that Naruto Uzumaki was then sealed away and he remains cut away from the story since. His return isn't imminent either, with the most likely return being near the very end. It is shameful that the Seventh Hokage isn't there to protect his village when it faces an existential threat, all because the Boruto series tries too hard to force the next generation into these roles.
Naruto Fans Want Better Treatment For Naruto Uzumaki
Sasuke Uchiha Is Another Boruto Victim
Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha being around shouldn't mean the next generation gets hindered. Missions could easily have been established away from Konoha, and if enough enemies existed, both the next generation ninjas, as well as the likes of Naruto and Sasuke could've gotten their fair share of attention in Boruto. Fans could also have seen the old generation leading from the front, with the likes of Sakura, Lee, Gaara, Bee, and others being heavily involved in the story. Unfortunately, that will never happen in Boruto. All fans hope for is better treatment of their beloved old generation characters, but at the moment, Boruto seems incapable of doing that.
